"Pappy" Willow, preceded her in death on May 26, 2001. She was a seamstress with the Liverpool Shirt Factory, and later assis ted with the family farm. "Arlene," as she was known, enjoyed reading , crocheting and watching the Philadelphia Phillies. She is survived by her four children: Michael H. Willow and wife, Glor ia, of Mifflintown, Nancy K. Swinehart and husband, Ronald, of New Col umbia, Randy J. Willow and Scott A. Willow, both of Richfield; five gr andchildren: Chad Willow, Travis Willow and wife, Jessica, Jason Sheaf fer, Joshua Sheaffer, and Jeremiah Sheaffer and wife, Megan; three gre at- granddaughters: Madisyn, Alexa, and Jazlynn; a sister, Betty Benne , of Mechanicsburg; nieces and nephews. She was the widow of Richard E. Barner, Sr. Surviving are a son Richard E. Helen's condition continued to decline and Hospice assisted sta ting in July. Helen passed away on 7/27/09 at 6:52 pm. As per her wis hes there will be no services or visitation. Born July 23, 1923 in Antes Fort, Henry was the son of Henry W. Sr. an d Lydia Kreitz Hauser. Colleen was born March 31, 1928 in Red Lion, and was the daughter of R . Bruce and Blanche Viola Flaharty Poet. They were both members of the St. John Evangelical Church. Henry was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and served with the 5th Inf antry 50th Field artillery unit in campaigns in Normandy, Ardennes For est, France, Rhineland and Central Europe. He was awarded the Silver S tar as a radio operator with the Forward Observation party in the Batt le of the Bulge and later a Bronze Star. He reitred from Alcan Cable in 1985, where he was awarded a patent fo a cable-coating extruder head system. He once owned and operated Hau ser TV Cable that served the Antes Fort, Salladasburg and Cogan Hous e areas. He served as Nippenose Twp Supervisor for 30 years and also served a s superintendent of the Antes Fort Village Park, home of the Henry W . Hauser Jr. Softball Complex, named in his honor. Colleen was a one-time member of the Business and Professional Women o f Jersey Shore and was a member of the Antes Fort Recreational committ ee. He married Genevieve Lenore Barner on July 14, 1935, in Amity. A life-long farmer, he raised strawberries and cherries until his reti ement. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He moved to Parkland Village in McMinnville in April 2002. In addition to his wife, Mr. Brutke is survived by a son, Dennis of Am ity; two daughters, Joyce Confer and Robin Prine of Amity; eight grand children and 11 great-grandchildren. "Orie" Herlocher Sr., 82, longtime resident of the Loganto area went peacefully to be with the Lord on Jan. 4, 2010 at Manor Ca e, Jersey Shore, surrounded by his loving family. Horace retired from Avco Lycoming Motors in 1987, and was well known f or his post retirement service at Schrack's Valley Service in Loganto until 2006. He was a U.S. Army Veteran who served honorably during WWII in the Sou th Pacific. Horace was a proud member of the N.R.A., an avid hunter and a lover o f outdoors activities and his family. He enjoyed woodworking and socializing with his friends. Horace served as Green Twp Zoning Officer for several years during pos t retirement. Born Jan. 28, 1927 in Milan, Mich., he was the son of the late Harve y Quigg and Elizabeth (Alford) Herlocher. Along with his parents he was predeceased by all of his brothers and s isters. Martha was a member of Camp Hill United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Christian Education and Kindergarten teaching from the Lucy Web Hyes United Methodist Training School of Washington, DC. After college, she served a term in a Methodist Mission teaching kindergarten. Following that, she took care of her mother and then father and then got a temporary job at Beneficial Finance. The temporary job lasted 35 years. She also served as a volunteer director of children's work at Pine Street United Methodist Church of Williamsport, PA. In her active years at Bethany Village, she served as volunteer treasurer of the Residents' Council and of the annual Village Fair. She also spent many hours visiting bedfast patients in Skilled Nursing. She enjoyed flower gardening and making bouquets for the Bethany Village esidents. She was soft spoken, gentle and a great listener. Martha loved to travel and was a great traveling companion. She was the beloved wife of the late John J. Cunnane Jr., whom she mar ied in 1944 at Bolling Air Force Base in Washington, D.C. Born in Beech Creek, Ida was one of the 15 children of the late Willia m and Eva Mayes Haagen, and mother of the late John Michael Cunnane an d Peter Christopher Cunnane. Mrs. Cunnane proudly served as a Red Cross volunteer during World Wa II in Washington, D.C., and then again during the 1980s in Okeechobe e, Fla. Ida was a long- time manager of the bookstore at Temple Univer sity's Ambler Campus. She was also very active for the Democratic Part y in Horsham for many years. Ida was an avid traveler who enjoyed touring the world. She has bee a "snow bird" for the last 25 years, having traveled from Beech Cree k for summers and Okeechobee, Fla., for the winters. Ida also enjoyed gardening, flowers, hummingbirds, and also quilting . She was an accomplished quilter, who created over 30 quilts in the l ast 20 years. Her constant and faithful companion for the past 20 years was Lady Di , a Bichon Frise, who will now live with her grandson. Her greatest enjoyment in life was that she enjoyed raising her own fa mily and also helped to raise the Sigmund children. She will be sorel y missed as a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister an d friend. His children, Jodell Barner and Jason Barner, we e the pride and joy of his life. Barner was an avid and resp ected outdoorsman and sportsman. He loved all sports, but his true fa vorite was football. Jack was an all-star football player in his da y and he especially loved watching the Kane Wolves play under the lead ership of his son, Jason. Jack V. Following high school he served two years in the U.S. Army, then went on to Clarion University on the GI Bill, earning a bachelor of science degree in elementary education. He taught elementary school in Franklin for 34 years. For many years he was the director of the City of Franklin's Summer Playground program, and he and his brother Curtis "Dusty" Rhoads also coached a Franklin Little League team. Jim, born in Ogallala, NE on May 28, 1937, left there to attend colleg e in Wyoming and Mexico. His love of travel and adventure took him t o live in Alaska, San Francisco, Buenos Aires, PA, Nova Scotia and Ne w York City. Jim wrote a book, "Bus to Buenos Aires," about his trip w ith his wife, Alice, overland from San Francisco to Buenos Aires in 19 67-68. He also wrote numerous travel articles and short stories. For s ome years he was active in public relations with Carl Byoir and Assoc . in NYC, and for some years he ran a sheep farm and hand-weaving stud io in Nova Scotia. In 1990 Jim moved to New Paltz, NY where he settled. He spent some o f his happiest times there, fulfilling a long dream of having a bookst ore. It became a gathering place for lovers of books, who enjoyed Jim's com pany and wit, and his constant companion, Harry the dog. Jim is survived by his loving daughter, Elizabeth Barner of Leicester , England; his wife, Alice of NYC; and many friends. A memorial party and informal service will be held at 36 Main, 36 Mai St., New Paltz on Saturday, November 7, from 1-4 p.m., a service wil l take place at 2 p.m., share a memory if you wish. She was a member of the Susquehanna Chapter of the American Business W omen, a member of AARP, and a member of the Messiah Senior Citizens a t South Williamsport. Born March 10, 1922, at Williamsport, she was the daughter of the lat e William and LeVerne Barner Hofer. In addition to her late parents, she was also preceded in death by he two brothers, Hamilton G. Hofer and Norris W. Hofer.
