  Magdalena "Leni" nmn Barner (January 23, 1925 - February 5, 2015) Magdalena “Leni” Barner, age 90 formerly of Stapleton, passed away Thu sday February 5, 2015. Leni was born on January 23, 1925 in Oberursel , Germany to Johann and Bertha (Dietrich) Ruppel. She met her husband , Earl Dean Barner in Germany during WWII. They were married on Decemb er 23, 1952 in Frankfurt. They resided in Germany for a short time, th en returned to the states, settling west of Stapleton on his family fa m. They ran the farm until Earl Dean’s death in 2001. Leni moved to t he High Rise Apartments in North Platte and made many friends. She wa s a member of St. John’s Catholic Church and the Altar Society, then a ttended St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in North Platte after her move . She always loved her cats and kittens, and enjoyed needlepoint and c ocheting, sharing much of her work with friends and family. Leni is s urvived by several nieces and nephews in Germany; many family member s on the Barner side; as well as numerous friends. She was preceded i death by her parents; husband Earl Dean; and her siblings in Germany . Memorials are suggested to the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Nort h Platte, or St. John’s Catholic Church in Stapleton. Online condolenc es may be shared at www.adamsswanson.com. A Christian Wake Service wil l be held 9:30 a.m. Saturday February 7, 2015, followed at 10:00 a.m . by Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Re verend Michael Pampara as Celebrant. Burial will follow at the Loup Va lley Cemetery in Stapleton. Visitation will be from noon until 9:00 p. m. Friday at Adams and Swanson Funeral Home which is in charge of arra gements.
