Mary May Emberg, 77, of Punxsutawney, died Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013, a
t Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.
She was born Feb. 23, 1936, in Mackeyville, Pa., a daughter of the lat
e Orvis and Bertha (Nihart) Barner.
In 1964, she married Donald Emberg. He preceded her in death on Feb. 2
8, 1974.
She previously worked at Invensys in DuBois.
Mary loved her family, being outside gardening, and she also had a ten
der heart for animals.
She had a friendly, warm spirit and made friends everywhere.
She is survived by two children, John Raymond Barner of DuBois and Hol
ly Ann Emberg of Punxsutawney; and one brother, George Barner.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a sister, R
uth Bowmaster.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9, 2
013, at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013, at th
e funeral home, officiated by Pastor Al Kimmel.
Interment will follow at Hopewell Cemetery, Frostburg.
