Lois Barner
Pekin - Lois L. Barner, 87, of 2319 Arlington Circle passed away at 6:
03 a.m. Friday, July 17, 2009, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center i
Peoria.
Born May 22, 1922, in Delavan to Leslie and Amy E. (Sparrow) Lambert
, she married Albert H. "Al" Barner on Jan. 4, 1941, in Palmyra, Mo. H
e died Oct. 17, 2003, in Peoria.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Howard Lam
bert; and one sister, Ruth Morgan.
Surviving are one daughter, R. Rebecca "Becky" (Robert) Stark of Thomp
sonville; three grandchildren, Elizabeth E. (Joseph) Clarke of Marengo
, Paul R. Stark of Wheeling and Mary R. (Kenneth) Kolacia of Minooka
; and six great-grandchildren, Daniel Clarke, Sarah Clarke, Rebecca Cl
arke, Matthew Clarke, Adam Kolacia and Rachel Kolacia.
A homemaker, Lois had worked as a secretary in the Chicago area durin
g the 1950s and 1960s.
She was a devoted member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Groveland, w
here she served in several ministries of the church. Lois accepted Chr
ist on March 21, 1954.
Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Cornerstone Baptist Churc
h, 18040 Unsicker Road, Groveland. The Rev. Dr. Steven E. Hauter wil
l officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday and 9:30 to 10
:15 a.m. Tuesday, both at the church. Burial will be in Prairie Rest C
emetery in Delavan.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cornerst
one Baptist Church, P.O. Box 924, Morton, IL 61550.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, P
ekin Chapel.
