Bettie L. Barner, 99, of Lamar, passed away on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at Eagle Valley Personal Care Home in Milesburg. She was born on October 2, 1926, in Tylersville, PA to the late George and Adelaide (Heckman) Kerstetter. She was married to her beloved husband of 74 years, Harry M. Barner, who preceded her in death on April 7, 2020.
Bettie was a graduate of Sugar Valley High School. After graduating high school, she and her husband proudly owned and operated their family business, Harry M. Barner Coal & Trucking.
Bettie is survived by her 4 daughters, Darla Rose (Pete) of West Virginia, Cheryl Strouse of Bellefonte, Susan Hackenberg (David) of Rote, Claire Williams (Ed) of Lamar and 6 grandchildren, Wesley Richardson (Jennifer), Brian Long (Tabitha), Shelley Strouse, Scott Strouse (Colleen), Ryan Hackenberg and Chad Williams (Robin). Also surviving are 7 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, one brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law.
She was predeceased in death by 2grandchildren (Christopher Williams and Eric Hackenberg) and 5 siblings (Geraldine Mingle, Emma Henderson, Daniel Kerstetter, George Kerstetter Jr, and Kay Douty).
She was an active member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Snydertown where she was a choir director and organist for over 40 years. She was a member and past worthy matron of the Bellefonte Eastern Star. She and Harry traveled to many places in their motor home and enjoyed their winter trips to Florida.
Memorial contributions may be made in Bettie's memory to St. Mark Lutheran Church at 850 Snydertown Road, Howard PA 16841 or Snydertown Community Cemetery at 456 Furnace Road, Mill Hall, PA 17751.
