Janet M. (Gerstel) Barner, 77, formerly of Natrona Heights, passed awa
y Sunday, March 21, 2010, at Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville
, Ga. Janet was born Dec. 1, 1932, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the la
te Sylvester and Frieda (Poxon) Gerstel. Janet worked for the 7-11 i
Natrona Heights before retiring 22 years ago and moving to Lawrencev
ille, Ga. Janet enjoyed her family, watching Atlanta Braves baseball
, game shows, playing bingo, listening to country music and dining ou
t with her family. She is survived by her daughters, Susan J. Kristoff
, of Lawrenceville, Ga., Catherine (Russell) Norris, with whom she mad
e her home, and Jacqueline (Michael) Bashour, of Wilsonville, Ala.; so
, Kenneth E. (Cheryl) Barner Jr., of Natrona Heights; sister, Helen C
. Chalmers, of Plum Borough; brother, David Gerstel, of Citrus Heights
, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Michael and Phillip Barner, Matthew Kri
stoff, Justin and Kaitlin Norris, and Elias and Hannah Bashour; two gr
eat-grandchildren, Donovan and Drake Barner; as well as many nieces an
d nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husba
d, Kenneth E. Barner Sr., on Aug. 5, 1973; sister, Frieda; and thre
e brothers, Sylvester, Clarence and Paul. A memorial service will be a
