    William Richard "Hoss" Bierly, 64, of Loganton, entered into eternal l
    ife on April 8, 2015 from Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

    Born Jan. 29, 1951 in Lock Haven, he was the son of the late Richard a
    d Charlotte (Stamm) Bierly.

    Hoss was a loving husband, caring father and grandfather, and an amazi
    g friend.

    He was married to Anna Louise (Confer) Bierly on Sept. 21, 1979 and th
    ey shared over 35 years of inseparable marriage.

    Hoss was known for his big heart, great sense of humor and his love t
    o tell everyone stories and jokes. He enjoyed spending time with all o
    f his family and especially fishing with his friends.

    He graduated from the former Sugar Valley High School in 1968 and in 1
    970 graduated from the former WACC, now Penn College, in sheet metal f
    abrication.

    He was employed by PennDot and retired in 2003 after 32 years of servi
    ce as a "tin knocker."

    For many years he was the Union President of AFSCME Local Union #13.

    Hoss was an avid Dallas Cowboys, N.Y. Yankees and Notre Dame Fightin
    g Irish fan.

    Along with his wife, he is survived by a son: Jonathan William (Courtn
    ey Hummel) Bierly, two daughters: Jamie Lynn (Bill Lamey) Confer and S
    onya Arlene (John William) Bierly Lamey, and five grandchildren: Blaz
    e Bierly, Tanner Bierly, Hailey Anne Lamey, Camron-Joshua William Lame
    y and Carissa Leanne Lamey.

    In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a brother, Steven Bie
    ly.

    A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, April 12, 2015 at 4 p.m
    . in the Albright United Methodist Church, 47 E. Main St., Loganton, w
    ith Pastor Brenda Mitchell officiating.

    A visitation will be held in the church on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. Cas
    ual attire is requested. Private interment will be held at the conveni
    ence of the family.

    If desired, memorials may be made in honor of Hoss to the Sugar Valle
    y Volunteer Fire Co. #13, 24 W. Anthony St., Loganton, Pa. 17747.

    Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Wayne P. Urbine Funeral Home

    Charlotte S. Bierly, 77, widow of Richard E. Bierly, 120 W. Main St.
    , Loganton, formerly of Booneville, passed away on Friday April 27, 20
    07 at the Susque-View Home.

    Born in Loganton on May 25, 1929 she was the daughter of the late Davi
    d L. and Joyce W. (Stamm) Stamm.

    She was employed by Sylvania after World War II for over 15 years an
    d then was employed by the former Boron of Lamar as a cook for over 1
    0 years.

    She is survived by a son, William R. “Hoss” Bierly, Loganton, four gra
    dchildren and six great-grandchildren.

    Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Steven D
    . Bierly.

    The funeral service will be held on Thursday May 3, 2007 at 11 a.m. i
    the Wayne P. Urbine Funeral Home, Inc., 95 E. Main St., Loganton, wi
    th Pastor Brenda Mitchell officiating. Visitation will be held in th
    e funeral home on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. Private interment will b
    e held at the convenience of the family. If desired, memorial contribu

    Thomas Lee Nicholas

    Thomas Lee Nicholas, 78, passed away at his home in Tylersville surrou
    ded by family and friends on Monday, Nov. 5, 2007 after a lengthy ill
    ess.

    He was born May 1, 1929 in Tylersville, a son of Verius and Margaret (
    Slaterbeck) Nicholas and graduated from the former Sugar Valley Vocati
    onal School in 1947.

    He enlisted in the United States Air Force and spent many years in Pan
    ama. After an honorable discharge from the Air Force, he lived in Eri
    e for several years and then returned to Clinton Co, where he worked a
    s a machinist at Piper Aircraft in Lock Haven. He also owned and opera
    ted a charcoal business.

    He was formerly married to the late Marie Schmidt of Erie.

    In 1966, he married Grace (Holdren) Matter and for 40 years, he and hi
    s wife operated a dairy farm near Booneville.

    Tom was an avid and skillful player of checkers and poker and enjoye
    d spending time in the outdoors, especially gardening. He was passiona
    te about dairy farming and ingenious in his inventions to improve hi
    s farm’s productivity.

    Along with his wife Grace, he is survived by a daughter, Yvonne (Willi
    am) Miller of Loganton; a stepson, Thomas (Darla) Matter; three stepda
    ughters, Peggy (Robert) Fegley, Cathy (Carl) Boob and Sandy (Danny) St
    over; a brother, Karl “Scott” (Donna) Nicholas of State College; thre
    e sisters, Elinor (Clair) Jones of Centre Hall, Audrey Gummo of Fleetw
    ood and Linda (Charles) Morton of Tamarack; a grandson, Jonathan Bierl
    y of Loganton; two great-grandsons, Blaze and Tanner Bierly of Loganto
    ; and many step grandchildren, step great grandchildren and step grea
    t great grandchildren.

    He will be greatly missed by his granddaughter and caregiver Robin Sey
    ler.

    Tom was preceded in death by a beloved daughter, Darlene, and a brothe
    , Gene of Macungie.

    The funeral service will be held Friday, Nov. 9, 2007 at 2 p.m. in th
    e Wayne P. Urbine Funeral Home Inc., 95 E. Main St., Loganton, with th
    e Rev. Melvin Musser officiating. Visitation will be held in the funer
    al home Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday one hour prior to the ser
    vice. Interment will be held in Tylersville Union Cemetery.
