MISHAWAKA - Scott Calvin Barner, age 82 of Mishawaka, passed away Thur
sday, January 18, 2018 at the Grand Emerald Place Assisted Living Cent
er in South Bend. Scott was born January 23, 1935 in Jersey Shore, Pen
sylvania to the late Calvin and Nancy Barner. Following his high scho
ol graduation, Scott enlisted in the US Navy in 1952 and served honora
bly until his discharge in 1956. While in the Navy, he married Yvonn
e Brown. Yvonne preceded him in death, passing away in 1994.

Surviving are his children Scott E. (Judy Powell) Barner of Elkhart an
d Kathryn (Ron) Carlson of Mishawaka. Also surviving is his brother Ri
chard (Judy) Barner, 9 grandchildren and several great and great-grea
t grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Terry L. Barner a
d his sister JoAnn Odynski.

Visitation will be held from 3-6 pm Sunday, January 21, 2018 at Cruz F
amily Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Osceola. Funeral service
s will be held at 1pm Monday, January 22, 2018 at Cruz Family Funera
l Home with interment and Military Honors to follow in Chapel Hill Mem
orial Gardens, Osceola.

Scott was employed as a brake repairman with the New York Central Rail
oad Line, retiring at the age of 59. He was a hard worker and a prou
d Veteran.

MISHAWAKA - Nancy E. Travis, 93, passed away at 8:20 p.m. Thursday, Ma
ch 8, 2007, in Beverly Living Center of Mishawaka. Nancy was born o
December 28, 1913, in Jersey Shore, PA, to the late George and Lou (
Carnahan) Brown.

Nancy retired as a receptionist at the Morris Inn. She is survived b
y her sons, Richard L. (Judy) Barner of Osceola and Scott Barner of Mi
shawaka; a daughter, Joanne (Ed) Odynski of South Bend; eight grandchi
ldren, Nancy Odynski, Donna Odynski, Joan Odynski, Richard L.(Chris) B
arner Jr., Lori (Bob) Pletcher, Scott Barner, Terry Barner and Cathy (
Ron) Carlson; and 15 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by tw
o sisters, Louise Hill of Jersey Shore, PA, and Edith Hastings of Clea
field, PA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Travis
; and brothers, William, George and Joseph Brown.

Private family services will be held. Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 1077
6 McKinley Highway, Osceola, is handling arrangements. Burial in Chape
l Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. The family's preferred memorial is t
