e" Mayes, 82, of Julian, passed away Thursday, Aug. 27, 2009 at the He
arthside Nursing Home in State College. Born on Dec. 1, 1926 in Runvil
le, he was the son of the late Ed Mayes and Dora Lucas Mayes. In 1950
, he married Joyce Rider who preceded him in death. On March 9, 1996 a
t Brookside Wesleyan Church he married Lena Tenalio Mayes who survive
s at home. He attended the Yarnell school system. Lile spent most of h
is life farming. He worked as a mechanic for Davidson Trucking, drov
e for Stauffer Transportation, and was a Supervisor for Union Twp. H
e was a faithful member of the Brookside Wesleyan Church. Lile was a m
ember of the American Legion of Milesburg and played the guitar in th
e County Friends Band. Lile was devoted to his family and was passiona
te about his music and farming. Along with his wife he is survived b
y a daughter, Myrna Yearick (John), of Julian; three step-daughters; M
ary McGhee and the late Donald McGhee, of Petersburg, Erma Rupert (Cli
ff), of Bellefonte, Centre Co, PA 16823.
