    Beverly (Bev) Kay Brooks September 9, 1942 July 12, 2015 Beverly (Bev) Kay Brooks, 72, of Centre Hall, passed away Sunday, July 12, 2015, at Hershey Medical Center. She was born September 9, 1942, in Bellefonte, a daughter of the late G. William (Bill) and Lois Virginia Homan Brooks. Bev graduated from Penns Valley High School, Spring Mills, in 1961, where she was enrolled in the school's Business Curriculum. She was employed as a secretary in the Dean's Office for Undergraduate Studies in the College of Liberal Arts at Penn State University for twenty six years. Beverly was a faithful member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Centre Hall having been baptized there. In 1993, she played a major role in compiling a church cookbook which was sold as a fundraiser for the installation of a ramp at the front entrance of the church. As a former member of the Centre Hall Garden Club, she had served as the club's president for four years. Beverly loved gardening, was well known for her many beautiful African Violets, most of which she grew from leaf cuttings. She enjoyed feeding the birds and squirrels at her house. One of her deep interests was working with genealogies. Following her retirement, Beverly found tracing her family roots and writing biographies about her ancestors to be a very rewarding hobby. Today, many of her completed family histories can be found on the shelves of both the Bellefonte and Aaronsburg Historical Libraries. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. Surviving Ms. Brooks is one sister, Jeanette B. Wolfe and her husband, Thomas, of Rebersburg; one brother, Marshall W. Brooks and his wife, Linda, of Centre Hall; two nieces, Karen Guissanie and her husband, Rob, of Lewisburg, and Rebecca Palm and her husband, Marty, of Danville; two nephews, Jason Brooks and his wife, Judy, of Rebersburg, and Todd Brooks and his wife, Liz, of Bloomsburg; and her eight grandnieces and grandnephews, Kyle and Derek Guissanie, Ryan, Kevin and Addy Palm, and Miles, Clara and Elena Brooks. Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 15, 2015, at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 301 North Pennsylvania Ave., Centre Hall. The funeral will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 16, 2015, at the church with the Reverend Scott Klimke officiating. Burial will follow in Centre County Memorial Park, State College. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to St. Luke Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 331, Centre Hall, PA 16828 or to Penns Valley EMS, 106 Ross Hill Road, Spring Mills, PA 16875.     Brooks, Lois Virginia

    Lois Virginia Brooks August 28, 1924 - June 5, 2008 Lois Virginia Brooks, 83, of Centre Hall, went home to be with her Lord, on Thursday, June 5, 2008, at Mount Nittany Medical Centre, State College, Centre Co, PA in State College. She was born August 28, 1924, in Potter Twp, a daughter of the late Ralph G. and Ethel Long Homan. On January 23, 1942, she married G. William "Bill" Brooks who preceded her in death on January 4, 1994. Lois graduated in 1941 from Centre Hall Potter High School. She and her husband farmed for may years in Miles Twp. Later she ran the office of the Black Hawk Limestone Quarry, owned and operated by her husband and brother-in-law, from 1967 until 1981. In her younger years, Lois was an avid and successful hunter. She enjoyed gardening and was a longtime member of the Centre Hall Garden Club. Mrs. Brooks is survived by two daughters, Beverly K. Brooks of Centre Hall, Jeanette Wolfe and her husband Thomas of Rebersburg; a son, Marshall W. Brooks and his wife Linda, of Centre Hall; four grandchildren, Karen Guissanie and her husband Robert, of Lewisburg, Rebecca Palm and her husband Marty, of Danville, Jason Brooks and his wife Judy, of Rebersburg, and Todd Brooks and his wife Liz, of Bloomsburg; and seven great-grandchildren, Kyle and Derek Guissanie, Ryan, Kevin and Addelyn Palm, and Miles and Clara Brooks; one sister, Sarah Decker of Centre Hall; one brother, Evan Homan and his wife Lorna, of Rebersburg. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, George W. Homan, Robert L. Homan and Donald M. Homan. She was baptized in the St. Luke Lutheran Church in Centre Hall, where she was an active and faithful member. Lois sang in the church choir for many years and was a member of the church's sewing group. Friends will be received from 6 :00 to 8:00 p. m., Sunday, June 8, 2008, at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 301 N. PA Ave., Centre Hall, Potter Twp, Centre Co, PA . The funeral will be at 10:00 a. m., Monday, June 9, 2008 at the church, with the Rev. Dr. Barry Folmar officiating. Burial will be at Centre County Memorial Park, 1032 Benner Pike, State College, Centre Co, PA In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to St. Luke Lutheran Church, P. O.
