Osborne Co, Part 5

George Schumacher was a farmer and stock raiser, P.O. Osborne, KS. He was born in Baden, Germany on January 5, 1828. At the age of seventeen years he came to the United States and located in Erie, PA, where he carried on a cooper shop, and engaged in farming until 1866 when he went to Benton, Iowa where he engaged in farming until 1877, when he came to Osborne Co, Kansas. Here his attention has been turned to stock raising and farming on a large scale. He has now thirty-eight head of fine thoroughbred cattle and eight head of orginary stock. He was married to Miss Catherine Feasler, October 1, 1850. They have 10 children - Lewis, Emma, Maria, George, Thomas, Charles and Willie (twins), Samuel, Frank and Kitty. Mr. Shoemaker (sic) is a member of the A.O.U.W. and has been Trustee of Le Roy Twp, Benton Co, Iowa for 4 years.

Georg married Katharina "Catherine" Barbara FUSSLER on 9 Oct 1849 in Erie, Erie Co, PA. Katharina (daughter of Ernst FUSSLER, Sr. and Katherine GORENFLO) was born on 22 May 1822 in District of Bruchsal, Baden, Germany; died in 1889 in Osborne, Osborne Co, KS. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
