Robert Allen Barner, 77, of Howard, died Monday, March 4, 2013 at Centre Crest Nursing Home.
He was born in Lock Haven on May 6, 1935, a son of the late Harry B. and Verna Heeman Barner. He married Mona Jeanne Myers on April 23, 1999, who survives at home.
He graduated from Walker Township High School. He was the store manager at Napa Auto Parts in Mill Hall for many years.
Bob was a life member of the Walker Township Fire Co. where he had served as chief, and was a member of Nittany Antique Machine Association.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, boating and four-wheeling, and liked to restore Allis Chalmers tractors. He participated in various competitive rifle teams in the area.
Survivors include two daughters, Karen J. Barner of Bellefonte and Beth A. (Bryan) Seal of Mechanicsburg; two stepdaughters, Susan (Randy) Sorgen and Debora (Robert) Weeder, both of Lock Haven; one son, Steven W. Barner of Somerset; three sisters, Florence Litz, Barbara Brouse and Joyce Fetzer; six brothers, Clarence, Harry, Mahlon, Kenneth, Gerald and Barry Barner; three grandchildren, Shane Orndorf, Laura Grohn and Andrew Seal; three stepgrandchildren, Tracy Noll, Tammy Duck and Tegan Weeder; and two stepgreat-grandchildren, Nicholas and Brennan Noll.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, March 7, 2013 at 11 a.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 850 Snydertown Road, Howard. The Rev. Ruth Kocha Jensen will officiate. Burial will be at Snydertown Cemetery, @048 at the family's convenience. Visitation will be Thursday, March 7, from 9 a.m. until services.
