Prior to being hospitalized, he had been a resident in the Doctors'
Convalescent Center, Selinsgrove, for several months.
Born Oct. 23, 1897, at Liverpool RD1, Perry Co, he was the son of th
e late
William Clarence and Ida Spicher Long. His wife, the former Susan Mar
ia Lyter,
died in 1969.
Mr. Long was a lifelong farmer in Perry Co, retiring in 1967.
He was a member of St. John's (Barner's) Lutheran Church, Liverpool RD
1, and a
member and officer of Barner's (Saint John's) Lutheran Church Cemeter
y Liverpool RD 1, Perry Co, PA Association. He was also a member of
the Perry Valley Grange, Millerstown RD1; and the Liverpool Senior Cit
izens
Center.
Surviving are seven daughters, Mrs. Margaret Smeltzer of Harrisburg, M
s.
Julia Koller of Fort Myers, Fla., Mrs. Blanche Wallis and Mrs. Susan H
off, both
of Liverpool RD1, Mrs. Mildred Murphy and Mrs. Carol Wilfong, both o
f Duncannon
RD1, and Mrs. Isabelle Cameron of Hesston RD1; three sons, Roy C. of M
illerstown
RD2, Truman E. of Hummelstown RD1 and W. Palmer of LIverpool RD1; 20
grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in St. John's (Barner's
)
Lutheran Church, Liverpool RD1, by the Rev. Paul E. Whitmoyer. Buria
l will be
in Barner's (Saint John's) Lutheran Church Cemetery Liverpool RD 1, P
erry Co, PA.
Friends may call in the George P. Garman Funeral Home, Liverpool, Thur
sday
evening, or in the church Friday from 12:30 p.m. to the hour of the se
