    GEORGE A. LYTER
    George A. Lyter, 78, formerly of N. Market Street, Liverpool, died Sat
    urday, Oct. 7, 2000 in Nipple Convalescent Home, Liverpool.
    He was born Nov. 7, 1921 at Millerstown RR 2 to the late Henry A. an
    d Evelyn (Bromley) Lyter.
    He retired as a road foreman from the state Department of Transportati
    on; attended Liverpool High School; was an Army veteran of World War I
    I; a Protestant; a life member of Liverpool Volunteer Fire Company
    ; a member of American Legion Post 364 and the Liverpool Ambulance Lea
    gue; and enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and golf.
    He was the widower of Frances Lenora Moloy Lyter, who died March 30, 1
    995.
    Surviving are four sons, Kenneth A. "Buck" of Liverpool RR 2, Willia
    m H. of Thompsontown, John A. of Liverpool RR 1 and Michael C. of Live
    pool; four daughters, Loretta Strawser of Newport RR 2, Georgia L. Ma
    kle of Millerstown RR 1, Dorna R. Bailor of Port Trevorton RR 1 and G
    loria J. Spiglemyer of Liverpool; two sisters, Jane Bartecchi of Balti
    more, Md., and Eleanor Dunlap of San Jose, Calif,; 18 grandchildren; a
    d 21 great-grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by a grandson, Joseph H. Lyter, who died in N
    ovember of 1998; a brother, Curtis H.; and four sisters, Agnes Blose
    , Dorothy Hahn, Mary Green and Virginia Baker.
    Services were held Oct. 10 in Garman Funeral Home, Liverpool, with th
    e Rev. James E. Lewis officiating. Burial, with military honors, was i
    Barners Cemetery, Liverpool RR 1.
