    Obituary for Harold Weaver

    Harold C. Weaver, age 86, of Fairview, passed away on May 7, 2012, a
    t Pleasant Ridge Manor West. He was born in Williamsport, PA, on May 1
    3, 1925, the son of the late Charles and Laura Barner Weaver.

    Harold was proud to have served in the United States Navy during Worl
    d War II as a Third Class Signalman. On D-Day he was on LCI, #499 tran
    sporting troops to Sword Beach. He received the American and Europea
    Theatre Awards, the Medal of the Jubilee of Liberty and good conduc
    t awards. Harold was a self-employed barber in Fairview for 50 years a
    d, along with his wife, owned Fairview Pi?a Shop for 27 years. He wa
    s the oldest member of American Legion Post 742 and was also a membe
    VFW, Sampson's Navy Vets and East Erie Turners. Harold served on th
    e Fairview School Board for 12 years.

    The joy of Harold's life was his family. He is survived by his lovin
    g wife of 65 years, Laurinda Ranf Weaver, daughters: Sheila Hilbert an
    d her husband Phil of Millcreek, Susan Roach and her husband David o
    f Venango; son, Charles Weaver and his wife Louise of Fairview. He i
    s also survived by a sister, Delores Greville, six grandchildren, tw
    o step-grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and one step-great gra
    dchild, and several nieces and nephews.

    Harold was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Louise Sm
    ith and Faye Sagans, and also a great grandson, George Nicewonger IV.

    The family would like to thank the Pleasant Ridge Manor West staff an
    d Lakeland Area Hospice for their care and compassion for Harold and h
    is family.

    As Harold requested, there will be no calling hours. Private funeral a
    angements have been entrusted to the Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main S
    treet East in Girard. Memorials may be made to the charity of one's ch
