    CAMP POINT, Ill. -- Albert D. Barner, 80, of Camp Point, died at 6:46 a.m. Wednesday, March 20, 2019, at his home.

    He was born July 28, 1938, in Pekin to Ira and Ruth Greaser Barner. He married Darlene A. Swogger on July 8, 1961, in New Middletown, Ohio. She died March 8, 2005.

    Al served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of Camp Point VFW Post 5410 and Camp Point United Methodist Church. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially waterfowl hunting. Mr. Barner was an Illinois state trooper for 30 years, retiring as a master sergeant in July 1993.

    Survivors include four sons, Kenneth A. Barner (Cindy) of Quincy, Jeffrey A. Barner of San Bernardino, Calif., John M. Barner (Renee) of Camp Point and James A. Barner of Minneapolis; 10 grandchildren, Kelsey Barner, Ann Barner, Ava Barner, Jeffrey Barner, Justin Barner, Riley Barner, Cora Barner, Chase Barner, Kaylee Barner and Emily Barner; and t
    wo sisters, Addie Fischer (Kenny), of Pekin and Mary Graber (Jerry) of Pekin.

    In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, John, and Ira Barner.

    SERVICES: 10 a.m. Monday, March 25, at Camp Point United Methodist Church with the Revs. Sheila Kelly and Ronald Graham conducting. Burial with military honors will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Camp Point.

    VISITATION: 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, March 24, at the church.

    MEMORIALS: Wounded Warrior Project or Illinois State Police Heritage Foundation.

    ARRANGEMENTS: Hamilton Funeral Home.

    Darlene A. Barner, 63, of Camp Point, Ill., died at 2:50 p.m. Tuesday
    , March 8, 2005, in her home.
    Born June 16, 1941, in New Castle, Mrs. Barner was a daughter of Kenne
    th and Annabell Gallo Swogger.
    She married Albert D. Barner on July 8, 1961, in New Middletown, OH. H
    e survives.
    Mrs. Barner worked as a seamstress in her home for many years and late
    as a salesperson for J.C. Penney in Quincy, Ill.
    She was a member of Camp Point United Methodist Church and was in char
    ge of youth bowling in Camp Point for several years.
    Mrs. Barner enjoyed being with her children and grandchildren, and bow
    ling in couples leagues with her husband.
    She was a graduate of Mohawk High School and attended the former New C
    astle Business College and Thiel College.
    Survivors, in addition to her husband, are her mother, Annabell Swogge
    of Bessemer; four sons and two-daughter-in-laws, Kenneth A. Barner o
    f Quincy, Jeffrey A. and Michael A. Barner of Point Mugu, Calif., an
    d John M. and Renee L. Barner, and James A. Barner, all of Camp Point
    ; and six grandchildren, Kelsey S. Barner of Ona, W.Va., Jeffrey Barne
    and Justin Barner, both of Point Muga, Riley Barner and Cora Barner
    , both of Camp Point, and Kaylee M. Barner of Clayton, Ill.
    Mrs. Barner was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Swogger; mate
    al grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Dom Gallo; and paternal grandparents
    , Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Swogger.
    Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 12, 2005
    , at Camp Point United Methodist Church by the Rev. Jeff Rasche. Buria
    l will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Camp Point.
    Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. tomorrow and 9 a.m. until the 10 a
    .m. service Saturday at Camp Point United Methodist Church.

    Born March 30, 1917 in Solona, PA to Nelson Ira and Ethel Ellen Buchan
    an Barner, he married Ruth Elaine Griesser on January 1, 1938 in Pekin
    . She died April 8, 2003 in Pekin. He was also preceded in death by hi
    s parents, one son (John Barner in 1944), three granddaughters, and on
    e brother (Albert H. Barner).

    Surviving are two daughters, Addie (Kenneth) Fisher and Mary (Gerald
    ) Graber, both of Pekin; two sons, Albert Barner of Camp Point and Ir
    a Barner of Topeka; seventeen grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; s
    ixteen great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; and one sis
    ter, Adeline (Joseph) Niemiec of Chicago.

    He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II.

    Mr. Barner worked as a custodian at Pekin Community High School for 3

    etiring in 1978.

    He was a member of Pekin Bible Church and the Loyal Order of Moose Lod

    He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, and bowling.

    Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 16, 2005 at the Pr
    eston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel, where visitation will be on
