John W. Seyler
John William Seyler of 4245 Long Run Road, Loganton, died July 15, 200
4 at his home.
Born July 2, 1929 in Loganton, he was a son of John S. and Frances M
. Knarr Seyler. He was married to Margaret L. Baney Seyler, who surviv
es.
A Korean War Veteran, he served with the Company F39th Regiment, 9th I
fantry Division as a Sergeant (T) 1952.
Seyler worked as a lumber grader for Spucks from 1945 to 1947, as an a
utomotive mechanic and school transporter, at Hammermill, as a carpent
er and as an American Legion cook. He retired from HRI.
He was a member of Lock Haven 40 and 8, Sons of Italy and American Leg
ion Post 131, where he had been a past commander and past 16th Distric
t Commander.
Surviving besides his wife are two sons, Gerald L. Seyler of Jersey Sh
ore and Stephen A. Seyler of Loganton; three daughters, Mary F. Fette
and Willeen A. Matter, both of Loganton and Mildred J. Willits of Je
sey Shore; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; six step grea
t-grandchildren; three sisters, Shirley Wittmer of Avis, Dorothy Rishe
l of Towanda and Marguerite Brungard of Tylersville; and two brothers
, Carl Seyler of Loganton and Charles Seyler of Lake Villa, Ill.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Warren Seyler.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, July 19, 2004 at the Loganto
Wesleyan Church, 4972 Long Run Road, Loganton. Pastor Luther A. Nels
on will officiate. Burial, with a military gun salute, will be at Mt
. Pleasant Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 1:30 to 4 p.m. S
unday, July 18, 2004 at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., Flemi
gton.
