Richard Lee Barner, age 86 of Melbourne, FL passed away on Thursday, J
une 29, 2017.

He was born on January 12, 1931 in Templeton, PA to the late Howard an
d Dorothy (Fravel) Barner.

Richard was preceded in death by his stepmother Elizabeth Coleman Barn
er; sister Betty Barner Dummett and brother Claire Barner.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Audrey Joy (Wheeling) Ba
er; brothers Harry (Sally) Barner of Mercer, PA, Thomas (Betsy) Barn
er of Hermitage, PA and David (Kay) Barner of Arvada, CO; two childre
Brenda (Alex) Chaika of Zephyrhills, FL and Bryan (Karen) Barner o
f Cortland, OH.

Beloved grandfather to eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildr
en; many loved nieces and nephews.

Richard attended Hermitage High School and was employed by General Ele
ctric for 30 years, before retiring to Palm Bay, FL in 1998. He wa
s a 32nd degree mason of Lodge 347 in Girard, PA. He served as Mayor o
f Fairview, PA from 1993-1997. Richard was a member of Eastminister Pr
esbyterian church in Indialantic, FL.

He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, church activities and spending time w
ith family and friends.

Mrs. Dorothy Fravel Barner, wife of Maurice Barner died Friday afterno
on at 1:20 p.m in the Kittanning Hospital, following an operation. Sh
e became ill on Tuesday and was taken to the hospital Thursday evening
. Her death came as a shock to the folks of the community, many not kn
owing of her illness. Mrs. Barner was born at Mill Hall, PA, August 20
, 1904. The family came to this section about 10 years ago. She is sur
vived by her husband and three children, Betty, Richard, and Harry al
l at home. She is also survived by her father, Richard Fravel and th
e following brothers and sisters. Boyd Fravel, Templeton, Clair Fravel
, Brooklyn, NY, Bruce Fravel, Lock Haven, Harry Fravel, Syracuse, NY
, Lee Fravel, Templeton, Mrs. B.G. Williams, Chester, and Mrs Harry Ho
llabaugh, Clinton. Funeral services will be held from the late home Mo
day afternoon at 2 p.m. and will be conducted by Rev. Stephen Carnock
, pastor of the Church of God, assisted by Rev. Walter Kennedy pasto
of the First Presbyterian Church. Interment will be in Cochran Cemet
ery

MRS. WILLIAM M. BARNER
Mrs. Melinda BARNER, widow of William M. BARNER, died last Thursday mo
ing at 7:30 o'clock at the home of her son, Charles E. BARNER, resid
ing near Salona, following an illness of several years with the infirm
ities of age. She was aged 86 years and had resided in the Bald Eagl
e and Nittany Valleys all her life. She was a member of the Salona Ref
ormed Church for many years.
She is survived by five other sons and three daughters; I.O. (Irvin Or
en)., C.H (Clarence Hope)., G.C. (Grover Cleveland), and B.C. (Boyd Ch
istina) BARNER, all of Mill Hall; I.C. (Isreal Clyde) BARNER, of Merc
er, Pa.; Mrs. Lloyd ZEIGLER (Emma Jane), of Kingwood, W.Va.; Mrs. Howa
d Wolfe (Viola Rebecca), of McElhattan, and Mrs. Dan MAYERS (Minnie M
ae), of Farwell.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the BARN
ER home in charge of Rev. Conrad BLUHM, of Mill Hall. Burial was mad
e in Cedar Hill Cemetery, #028.
