    d Rehabilitation Center in Clearfield. Born May 5, 1918, in Salona, h
    e was the son of the late Ralph Andrews and Estella Barner. On Decembe
    25, 1941, he married Sara M. Smeltzer who preceded him in death on J
    uly 28, 1997. A sister, Jessie Sheasley; a son, Thomas Michael; an
    d a daughter, Beverly J. Stein also preceded him in death. He is survi
    ved by a sister, Betty Smith, of Franklin, Tenn.; daughters, Suzann (V
    incent) Tedesco, of State College, Gwendolyn (Larry) Welch, of Olanta
    , and Jennifer (John) Holmes, of Philadelphia; and a son, Glenn R. And
    ews, Jr., of Mobile, Ala. Glenn was grandfather to 10 grandchildren a
    d 18 great-grandchildren. Glenn served in the U.S. Army Air Corps dur
    ing WWII as a trainer of bomber radio operators. Glenn was a graduat
    e of Mill Hall High School and retired from the A&P Tea Company in 197
    6, having started bagging groceries and rising to a store manager posi
    tion. Glenn was a member of St. Luke's United Church of Christ in Loc
    k Haven. Glenn enjoyed fishing, camping, and hiking. He was an avid bi
    d watcher and became a state and federal licensed bird bander reporti
    g to Cornell University. Over a 10 year period he banded 5,000 birds
    . In retirement, he had a large back yard garden which produced abunda
    t tomatoes and zucchinis among other crops as well as peaches and app
    les. He was known for the family heirloom roses, iris, and the many be
    autiful flowers he grew. At his request, there will be no memorial ser
    vice. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Cedar Hill Ce
    metery, #028. In memory of Glenn's love for cats, memorial contributio
    s may be made to the Clinton County S.P.C.A., 33 Mill Hill Rd., Loc

    From the "Lock Haven Express," Thursday, 4 April 1951:
    Mill Hall - Clarence H. BARNER, 76, died suddenly at 4:10 p.m. yesterday at his home after being stricken while at work as a carpenter on the Earl STROUSE farm, Cedar Run.
    Mr. BARNER was working with his son, Mahlon H., Mill Hall contractor, when he suddenly became ill. He was taken home by his son but died shortly after.
    A native of Bald Eagle Twp, he resided in Mill Hall for the past 23 years.
    In addition to his son, he is survived by his wife, Matilda, four other sons and two daughters, Harrry B., Howard RD; Foster A. Harrisburg; Leroy S., Mill Hall; and Floyd I., Rebersburg; Mrs. Fletcher Campbell, Lock Haven, and Mrs. Kenneth LUCAS, Salona; 26 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; also four brothers and one sister, Irvin O., Boyd C., and G. Cleveland all of Mill Hall; Clyde of Merser; and Mrs. Frank
    DeLong, Lamar.
