Doris Vivian Fanning, 81, formally of Linnwood Drive, McElhattan, an
d the Lock Haven Hospital Extended Care Unit, passed away April 23, 20
12 at the Williamsport Hospital.

She was born in Avis on April 30, 1930, the daughter of the late Byro
and Ida Caris Bierly.

Doris attended the Avis Elementary and Jersey Shore High schools.

Doris had worked at Brodart in Williamsport and the Woolrich Woolen Mi
ll in Woolrich, retiring in 1995 from the shipping department.

She enjoyed doing pu?le books and playing games with the fellow reside
ts at the Lock Haven Extended Care Unit.

Doris is survived by her sister, Bertha M. Bierly of Avis; a son Larr
y (Peggy) Fanning of McElhattan; and was blessed to have four grandchi
ldren, Amy (David) Haagen of Centre Hall, Lucas (Erica) Fanning of Loc
k Haven, Benjamin (Sarah) Fanning of Pottstown, and Christopher (Nicol
e) Fanning of Woodbridge, Va. She was also blessed with four great-gra
dchildren and was anxiously awaiting the fifth to be born in May. Als
o surviving is a very close friend, Charles Dorwart of Jersey Shore.

Doris was preceded in death by a son, Gorden L. Fanning in 2000.

Funeral services for Doris will be held on Friday, April 27, 2012 a
t 1 p.m. in the Yost-Gedon Funeral Home, 121 W. Main St., Lock Haven
. Officiating will be Pastor T.R. Hardic of the McElhattan United Meth
odist Church. Interment will be in the Rest Haven Memorial Park. Famil
y and friends will be received in the funeral home Friday from noon un
til the service.

Memorials will be accepted to the McElhattan United Methodist Church o
the Wayne Township Fire Company.
