AUKER, STANLEY E. ----- Stanley E. Auker, 70, of McAlisterville RR1, d
ied at 3:22 p.m. Saturday, March 16, 1996, at Lewistown Hospital. Bor
June 4, 1925, in Cocolamus, he was a son of the late Paul and Effi
e (Kauffman] Auker. Surviving are: children, Patricia L. Arbogast an
d Debra R. Ulrich, both of Selinsgrove, S. Thomas Auker and Christophe
C. Auker, both of Richfield, Vivian D. Seiler, Mount Joy; sisters, H
elen Vanier, McAlisterville, Marian Auker, Mifflintown; five
grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Wilmer Auker, an
d a sister, Evelyn Auker. He was a self-employed poultry farmer in Eve
dale from 1948-1963. He was later employed by Shaffer Trucking Co., N
ew Kingston, as a truck driver from 1963-1973. His last employment wa
s at Selinsgrove Center State School, retiring in 1985. He was a membe
of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, McAlisterville, Lost Creek G
olf Club, Oakland Mills, Lost Creek Rod and Gun Club, McAlisterville
, VFW Post No. 5863, Mifflintown, American Legion Post No. 298, Miffli
town and had been a charter member of the Richfield Lions Club. He wa
s an avid golfer, traveling to many courses since his retirement. He a
ttended Red Bank Elementary School and Fayette High School, McAlisterv
ille. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1943-1946 wi
th Co. L, 406th Infantry Reg., 102 Division and received a Purple Hear
t for being wounded inaction in Germany in 1945. Services will be hel
d at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 20, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran C
hurch, McAlisterville, with Rev. James Park Bricker officiating. Inter
ment will be in Hillside Cemetery, McAlisterville, where full militar
y honors will be conducted by the Juniata County Veterans Association
. The Ronald C. Sheaffer Funeral Home, 16 Westfall Street, McAlistervi
lle, is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be mad
