Frances Laurine McPeek Pearson
VENTURA - Frances Laurine McPeek Pearson 89, of 6 E. Lake St., Venuura
, died Thursday (Feb. 10, 2000) at the Oakwood Care Center in Clear La
ke.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at the Ward-Van Slyke Co
lonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St. in Clear Lake, with the Rev. Paul Has
el of the Ventura United Methodist Church officiating. Interment wil
l be in the Ventura Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour before services on Saturday at Ward-Van Sl
yke Colonial Chapel.
Memorials may be given in memory of Frances Laurine McPeek Pearson.
Frances was born Aug. 5, 1910, in Ventura, the daughter of Albert an
d Inga (Nelson) Goodling. She graduated from Ventura High School in 19
28.
Frances married Harold James "Mac" McPeek in September of 1929. Afte
his death on June 19, 1955, she married James Pearson in September o
f 1957. She owned Verna's Shoppe in Clear Lake for many years. She enj
oyed playing cards and was a member of the United Methodist Church i
Ventura.
Frances is survived by two daughters, Pat Burns and her husband, Walla
ce, of Storm Lake and Joann Charipar and her husband, Paul, of North L
iberty: four grandchildren, Karen Copley and her husband Fred, of Noga
les, Ariz., Peggy Fillio, of Indianola, Debbie Zisko, of Iowa City an
d Michael Burns, of Eagle Lake, Minn.; three great-grandchildren; an
d three stepchildren that she helped raise, Judy Unruh and her husban
d Jerry, of Milton Junction, Wis., Richard Pearson, of Marietta, GA.
, and James Pearson, of Virginia Beach, Va.; and seven stepgrandchildr
en.
She was preceeded in death by her parents, two husbands, two brother
s and one sister.
