JUNE M. NIEMOND
RICHFIELD - June M. Niemond, 82, of Richfield, entered into rest on Mo
day, March 12,
2007, at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.
She was born June 19, 1924, in Liverpool, a daughter of the late Elme
and Margaret
(Barner) Lyter. She was married on Nov. 1,1941, at the parsonage in Fr
eeburg by the
Rev. George Fetterolf to Lester E. Niemond, who survives. They celebra
ted 65 years of
marriage.
She had been employed at Kerstetter's Corner Store, Richfield, and pre
viously worked at
Whispering Springs Country Store, Mount Pleasant Mills, and at the for
mer East Salem
Blouse Factory, in its shipping department.
She was a longtime member of Richfield United Church of Christ and it
s Women's Guild
and was involved in many church activities.
She also was active in the Richfield Women's Club and the Juniata Coun
ty Democratic
Women's Club and had served as secretary of the Richfield Community Bo
ard and was a
committeewoman for Monroe Twp. June was a former member of the Miffli
Chapter
260, Order of Eastern Star, Mifflintown.
Most of all, June was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother a
d
great-grandmother, who was an accomplished quilter. She loved to shar
e her talents by
crafting her own "special" Christmas gifts for her family, especiall
y her grandchildren and
great-grandchildren.
Surviving, in addition to her beloved husband, are one son and daughte
-in-law, Larry
and Patricia Niemond of Richfield; one daughter and son-in-law, Trud
y J. and Steven
Sheerer of Richfield; six grandchildren, Amy McLaughlin, Ashley Niemon
d, Tammy Jacobs
and her husband Mark, Teresa Longacre, Zachary Sheerer and his wife Ka
thy, and
Heather Sheerer; six great-grandchildren, Alisha, Lauren and Spencer M
cLaughlin, Paige
Niemond, Chelsea Mills and Isaac Sheerer; one brother and sister-in-la
w, Roy and Orpha
Lyter of Richfield; two sisters and brother-in-law, Arlene Willow of R
ichfield and Betty and
Herbert Benner of Camp Hill; and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Niemond was preceded by one brother and three sisters.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at th
e George P.
Garman Funeral Home Inc., 9366 Route 35, Mount Pleasant Mills, and fro
m 10 to 11 a.m.
Thursday at Richfield United Church of Christ, Church Street, Richfiel
d, where the funeral
will be conducted at 11 by her pastor, Tammy S. Gessner.
Burial will be in Richfield Union Cemetery, Richfield.
