J. HOWARD GOODLING
J. Howard Goodling, 59, Liverpool RD1. Juniata County died at 11
a.m. Monday Jan. 3 in his home following an illness of several years.
Mr. Goodling had been bedfast in his home the past two years.
Early in his life, he farmed with his father and later operated his
own farm. In 1956, he began employment with H. J. Williams Co. Inc.,
York, retiring in 1971. Because of ill health. Mr. Goodling was
born August 16, 1917, in the Richfield RD 1 area, the son of Mrs.
Abbie Strawser Goodling. Mount Pleasant Mills RD 1, and the late
Daniel W. Goodling.
In 1941, he was married to the former Ruby Marie Lyter, who
survives. The couple lived in the Oriental area of Liverpool RD 1.
Mr. Goodling was a member of Leininger's Lutheran Church and
Sunday school, Liverpool RD 1; and the Liverpool Fire Company.
In addition to his widow and mother, he is survived by two
daughters, Janice at home, and Mrs. Scott Frymoyer of Port Trevorton
RD 1; two sons, Terence R. of Millerstown RD 2, and Gerald W. of
Liverpool RD 1; three grandchildren, four sisters, Mrs. Harry
Phillips, Mrs. Walter Hayes and Mrs. George Troutman, all of Mount
Pleasant Mills RD 2, and Miss Verna Goodling of Sunbury; and seven
brothers, Norman Goodling of Dauphin RD 1, Nevin Goodling of
Fredericksburg, Russell, Earl and Ray Goodling, all of Mount Pleasant
Mills RD 2, Lester Goodling of Cocolamus and Glenn Goodling of
Hummelstown.
The funeral will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the George
P. Garman Funeral Home, Liverpool His pastor, the Rev. Thomas F.
Livernois, S.T.D., will officiate. Burial will be in Barner's Church
Cemetery, Liverpool RD 1.
