- Judy Ellen Barner Obituary
Judy Ellen Arndt Barner, 86, of Harrisburg, passed away Saturday, November 30, 2024, in Hospice of Central PA - Carolyn’s House.
Born in Harrisburg on August 16, 1938, she was the daughter of the late George W. and Mary Miller Arndt.
Judy was a 1956 graduate of the former William Penn High School and served as the secretary for the class of 1956 reunion committee. She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Congregational Church where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday school.
Music was Judy’s passion. Judy joined The Greater Harrisburg Chapter of the Sweet Adelines in May 1959, and on October 23, 2009, was made an honorary lifetime member. She served as their choreographer for over 30 years. She loved traveling internationally to compete in competitions.
In addition to her parents, Judy was preceded in death by her husband, Richard E. Barner, Jr.; two sons, David E. Barner and George H. Barner; a grandson, Mick Barner; and a sister, Joanne E. Beam.
Judy is survived by a son, Andrew D. Barner husband of Lee Ann of Harrisburg; a granddaughter, Heather Barner of Harrisburg; 3 great grandchildren, Katera Geyer, Madeline Heagy, and Christian Barner; a sister, Mona Meyers of Harrisburg, and daughters-in-law, Sue Barner of Harrisburg and Tamera Bentz of Delaware.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 11 am in the Trinity Evangelical Congregational Church, 165 North 67th Street, Harrisburg. Inurnment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Friends are invited to visit with the family in the church on Saturday from 10 AM until the time of the service.
