William R. “Bill” Auker, 86, Richfield

RICHFIELD - William R. “Bill” Auker, 86, of Richfield, went home to b
e with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 26, 2013, at Geisinger M
edical Center, Danville.
William was born Jan. 19, 1927, in Juniata Co, a son of the late Georg
e and Hazel (Shellenberger) Auker. On June 28, 1947, he married the fo
mer Eunice M. Shirk, who survives. His passing breaks a loving marita
l union of 65 years.
He attended Stony Run grammar schoolhouse. William was an Army vetera
of World War II.
He retired after 39 years as a truck driver for Dorsey Trailers, North
umberland.
William was a member of Richfield Mennonite Church, where he served a
s a trustee and Sunday school teacher. He also held memberships in th
e Richfield Lions Club and Richfield Fire Company. William was the fou
ding member of the Richfield Coffee Drinkers Club and a member of th
e ROMEOs (Retired Old Man Eating Out club).
William enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by two daughters and so
s-in-law, Sandra and Dick Hart, of Thompsontown, and Dianna and Orvil
le Brubaker, of Richfield; five grandchildren, Bryan Hart and his wife
, Michelle, Teresa Kepner and her husband, Corey, Deron Brubaker and h
is wife, Denise, Brad Brubaker and his wife, Brenda, and Nathan Brubak
er; eight great-grandchildren, Kyle and Megan Hart, Shalyn and Chase K
epner, Amara and Cole Brubaker and Torrey and Tucker Brubaker; one bro
ther and sister-in-law, Don and Marian Auker, of South Carolina; thre
e sisters, Sarah Graybill, of Richfield, Donna Ritzman, of McAlistervi
lle, and Marian Kay Mangle, of Mifflintown; a sister-in-law, Betty Auk
er, of Elizabethtown; brothers-in-law, Wilmer Shirk, of Zelienople, an
d Stanley Shirk and his wife, LaDonna, of Richfield; sisters-in-law, F
ernie Keller, of Princeton, N.J., Naomi Shellenberger, of Richfield, a
d Sally Shirk, of Mount Pleasant Mills; and many nieces and nephews.
William was preceded by two great-grandsons, Gabriel Brubaker and Lest
er Keith Hart; three brothers, Raymond, Richard and Edward Auker; tw
o brothers-in-law, Gilmore E. Graybill and Harry Ritzman; brothers-in-
law, Donald Shirk and his wife, Mildred, Lloyd Shellenberger, Elvin Sh
irk and Gene Keller; and sisters-in-law, Mary Shirk and Miriam Sheaffe
and her husband, Albert Sheaffer.
Friends and family are invited to the viewing from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunda
y at Richfield Mennonite Church, Church Street, Richfield, followed b
y the funeral at 2 with Pastor Aaron Benner and Pastor Jerry O’Connel
l officiating.
Burial withe full military honors accorded by the Juniata Veterans Cou
cil will be made in Richfield Union Cemetery.
Should friends desire, gifts may be made in loving memory of William t
o a charity of the donor’s choice.
The George P. Garman Funeral Homes Inc., 9366 Route 35, Mount Pleasan
t Mills, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
