RODNEY L. WITMER
Rodney L. “Rod” Witmer, 71, of Millerstown died Saturday, April 16, 20
11 at home.
He was born Jan. 25, 1940 at the family farm in Liverpool Twp. to th
e late Leroy and Helen M. (Long) Witmer.
He was engaged in farming all of his life and operated a trucking busi
ess for 30 years; a 1958 graduate of Greenwood High School; involve
d in Scouting as a boy, earning the rank of Eagle Scout; a member of S
t. John (Barner’s) Lutheran Church, Liverpool, where he served as ushe
, assisted with the annual apple butter boils and gave hayrides for a
ea children in the fall, and a former member of the Liverpool Lions C
lub; and enjoyed watching NASCAR, especially Dale Earnhardt Sr. and To
y Stewart, sprint car racing, playing cards and vacationing.
Surviving are his wife of 38 years, Janette Bobb Witmer; two children
, Tara Pyle of Liverpool and Christopher of Millerstown; two grandchil
dren, Madelyn “Maddy” Pyle and Thomas Pyle III; a sister, Dawn Gambl
e of Mechanicsburg; and two brothers, James of McAlisterville and Dal
e of Mechanicsburg.
Services were held April 21 in his church with the Rev. Peter H. Kuebl
er officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
George P. Garman Funeral Home, Liverpool, handled arrangements.
