Orvis R. Rockey Jr., 87, of New Columbia, passed away Friday, Feb. 21
, 2014, at Lewisburg Evangelical Hospital.
The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014, at S
pitler Funeral Home, 733 Broad St., Montoursville. Friends may call a
t the funeral home Thursday morning from 10 to 11 a.m.

Orvis R. Rockey Jr.
World War II veteran
NEW COLUMBIA - Orvis R. Rockey Jr., 87, of 449 Old Route 15, New Colum
bia, died Friday, Feb. 21, 2014, at Lewisburg Evangelical Hospital.
Born May 22, 1926, in Centre Co, he was a son of Orvis R. Sr. and Edn
a May Lockhart Rockey. His wife, the former Marion R. Meixel, precede
d him in death.
Mr. Rockey was a decorated World War II Army veteran and retired fro
m American Home Foods.
He is survived by four sons and three daughters-in-law, Orvis R. “Skip
” III and Maureen of Milton, Steve L. and Judy of Milton, Ronald C. o
f Indiana and Herman L. “Dutch” and Joan of Watsontown; three daughter
s and sons-in-law, Irene K. “Reanie” and Stephen Byers of Lewisburg, D
arlene E. “Dee” and Terry Hess of New Columbia and Virginia L. and Mic
hael VonNeida of Beaver Springs; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Bar
bara and Jerry Barner Inhoof and Marjorie Myers, both of Milesburg; 1
3 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Cli
fford and John.
Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Spitler Funeral Home
, 733 Broad St., Montoursville, where the funeral service will be hel
d at 11 with Pastor Butch Woolsey officiating. Interment will follow i
Green Lawn Memorial Park.
