William F. Meixel Sr., Nancy Louise Meixel
William F. Meixel, Sr., age 65, and Nancy Louise Meixel, age 61, of Pi
e Mountain Road died Thursday, Dec. 16, 2004 at their residence.
He was born July 10, 1939 in Rauchtown, a son of Frank Leroy and Anit
a Violet Bailey Meixel.
She was born April 18, 1943 in Jersey Shore, a daughter of Donald an
d Mary Miller Leupold.
They were married December 17, 1960.
Early in his life he worked for Meixel’s Valley TV Cable Co. He retire
d three years ago from Alcan Cable as a strander working over 35 years
. He was a member of the Jersey Shore Moose Lodge #214, the Elks Lodg
e #1057 and was a social member of the American Legion Post #36. He wa
s a volunteer fireman with the Nippenose Valley. He enjoyed hunting, t
aveling, camping and loved to eat.
Early in Nancy’s life she was employed at West Co, Jersey Shore, a
s a machine operator. She attended St. James Lutheran Church, Rauchtow
. She was a member of Jersey Shore Moose Auxiliary #214 and a socia
l member of the American Legion Post #36. She enjoyed bus trips with f
iends, traveling and camping. She was a big fan of Elvis and Tom Sell
eck. She was a most talented seamstress who enjoyed sewing, knitting
, and embroidery. She loved making crafts and participating in craft s
hows with her daughter-in-law throughout our area. Her hands were alwa
ys busy whether making crafts or her “scrubbies.”
Their survivors include two sons, William F., Jr. of Newberry and Joe
y (Debra) Meixel of Rauchtown; a daughter Cindy (Carl) Welshans of Rau
chtown; six grandchildren, Cory, Heith, Vanessa, Tiffany, Joey, Jr. an
d Jonathan; two great-grandchildren, Cashmeir and Haley.
Bill has a sister, Jean Weigle of Rauchtown; three brothers, Dean Meix
el of Allenwood and Jack and Mike Meixel, both of Rauchtown. He was pr
edeceased by a sister Bonita Stover.
Nancy has a sister, Helen Duck of Dunnstown and a special aunt Betty M
iller of Rauchtown with whom she started her day with making crafts.
Bill and Nancy’s life celebration will begin with a visitation fro
m 2 p.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesday, December 21, 2004 from the Rearick-Carp
enter Funeral Home, Ltd., “A Life Celebration Home” 1002 Allegheny St.
, Jersey Shore. Private family services will be held Wednesday with th
e Rev. Dennis Crissman officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memor
ial Park. The family will provide flowers.
Their family suggests memorial contributions be made to the St. Jame
s Lutheran Church, 3242 Middle Road, Jersey Shore, PA 17740.
