Lillian C. Stufflebeam, 93, of the Cedar Falls Western Home and former
ly of Waterloo and Plainfield, Iowa, died Thursday morning, June 11, 2
009, at the Western Home of natural causes.
Lillian was born on March 28, 1916, in Waverly, Iowa, the daughter o
f Otto and Viola (Buchholz) Zinn. She attended school in Plainfield, g
aduating from the Plainfield High School in 1932. In 1936, Lillian wa
s united in marriage to Ralph H. Dayton at the Little Brown Church i
Nashua and the couple made their home in Plainfield. Ralph died in 1
939, and in 1942, Lillian began working at Rath Packing Company in Wat
erloo in the Trim Department. On September 1, 1950, Lillian was unite
d in marriage to Silbert L. Stufflebeam in Des Moines, Iowa, and the c
ouple moved to a farm north of Waterloo. Lillian continued to work a
t Rath Packing until her retirement in 1974, following 32 years of ser
vice. Silbert died in 1980 and Lillian continued to live in her farm h
ome in Waterloo until she became a resident of the Cedar Falls Wester
Home on December 23, 2008.
Lillian was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church - Bennington Townsh
ip. She enjoyed quilting, antiquing and volunteering at her church.
Lillian is survived by one daughter and her husband, Sonja and Larry G
eene of Scottsdale, Arizona; 5 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren
; 2 great great grandchildren; and one sister, Geraldine Woodruff of N
ewton, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, h
er son and his wife, Don and Sandy Dayton and by one sister, LaVona Ka
semeier.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 15, 2009, at 10:30 a.m
. at St. John's Lutheran Church - Bennington Township, rural Waterloo
, with Pastor William Thalacker officiating. Burial will be in the chu
ch cemetery. Public visitation will be held on Sunday, June 14th fro
m 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Denve
and also for an hour before services on Monday at the church. Memori
als may be directed to the Cedar Falls Western Home and Cedar Valley H
ospice.
