Ann B. Wright
Mrs. Ann B. Wright, 91, of Frontz Lane, Allenwood, died Tuesday, Augus
t 10, 2010 at RiverWoods, Lewisburg.
Born April 17, 1919 in Oval, she was a daughter of the late Warren an
d Margaret (Wentzel) Barner. Her husband of 43 years, Lt. Col. Arthu
M. Wright, predeceased her in 1987.
Ann was a 1937 Graduate of Jersey Shore High School. She joined the Wo
man's Army Air Corps after the war. Ann also graduated from Jefferso
University in Philadelphia with a degree in Nursing. Most of her lif
e she worked as a private duty nurse in California and traveled with h
er husband in the military. However, during her career she also worke
d as an operating room and emergency room nurse at the University of C
alifornia.
Ann was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Jersey Shore.
A member of the Jersey Shore Garden Club, she had a passion for flowe
gardening and especially loved roses. Ann also enjoyed bird watching
, her cats, sewing and caring for her family and friends.
Surviving are a son; a grandson, Evan A. Wright of Watsontown and nume
ous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death b
y a daughter, Kathe Wright, two brothers, Charles and Dale Barner an
d three sisters, Bertha Hawkins, June Devine and Linda Merkle.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, August 15, 2010 at C
onrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, 308 Main St., Watsontown and from noo
to 1 p.m. Monday, August 16, 2010 at St. James Evangelical Luthera
Church, 3242 Middle Road, Jersey Shore. A funeral will be held a
t 1 p.m. at the church. Officiating will be her pastor, Pastor Kerry A
ucker. Burial will follow in the Oval Cemetery, Oval.
The family welcomes flowers, however if desired memorial contribution
s may be made to St. James Lutheran Church, 3242 Middle Rd., Jersey Sh
ore, PA 17740.
