"Charlie" Chaddie"
Age 97 of Hockessin, DE passed away on Wednesday, August 10, 2005.
Born February 25, 1908, to the late William and Mary Dalphon, Charle
s served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. In his early years
, Charlie operated 2 Sunoco service stations in Wilmington, at Concor
d & West, and Concord & Monroe. He would later retire from the DuPon
t Company from their security department. Charlie was a longtime resid
ent of Hockessin, as well as a longtime member of St. Mary of the Assu
mption Catholic Church, where he was a eucharistic minister and an ush
er.
Charles was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Geasey Dalpho
; by 3 sisters; and 2 brothers. He is survived by his wife, Jean Bark
ley-Dalphon; 2 sons, George Dalphon, Sr. and his wife, Joan, of Smyrna
, and Charles F. Dalphon, Jr. and his wife, Joan, of Bethany Beach; an
d 3 stepchildren, J. Timothy Barkley of Catoosa, OK, Jeane Breitigan o
f Bear, DE, and Brenda Klair of Glen Mills, PA.
Five grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; an
d a brother, Philip Dalphon of Renovo, PA, also survive him.
A memorial mass will be offered on Monday, August 15, 2005, at 11 am a
t St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, 7200 Lancaster Pike, Hoc
kessin, DE 19707. Interment will be private.
