MYERS LeROY Of Upper St. Clair, formerly of Clintonville, PA passed aw
ay February 17, 2013 at Friendship Village. Born September 9, 1913 i
Clearfield, PA. He was the son of George B. Myers and Alma Orner Mye
s. He was married to Gertrude Hoffman Myers until her death in 1984
, and later married Dr. Dorothy Pollack Swanson, who died in 2005. H
e graduated from Penn State with a BA degree in 1937 and later receive
d a Masters in Geography from the University of Michigan. He served a
s a professor of Geography at Slippery Rock University and WVU, and la
ter became involved with city planning in Williamsport, Meadville, an
d Lima, Ohio. He was an Army veteran of WWII. He had a lifelong love o
f travel and had toured all of Europe and much of East Asia, Africa, a
d Australia. He was a talented amateur photographer and was a membe
of the Masonic Lodge. Survived by a stepdaughter, Susan Miller (Tom
) of Pittsburgh; stepson, David Swanson (Judy) of Tampa, Florida; an
d relatives in the Clintonville area. A private family service will ta
ke place at a later date. The Family would like to thank the staff o
f Friendship Village Special Care Unit for their wonderful care. LARR
