James P. Jim Breon
James P. 'Jim' Breon August 19, 1936 - June 6, 2013 James P. "Jim" Bre
on, 76, of Loganton, passed away Thursday, June 6, 2013, at Hershey Me
dical Center. He was born in Lock Haven on Aug. 19, 1936, the son of t
he late Parse H. and Cecelia M. Lamey Breon. Jim was a 1954 graduate o
f Sugar Valley High School. On June 9, 1957, in Tylersville, he marrie
d the former E. Carol McCaleb, who survives in Loganton. Jim was a vet
eran of the United States Air Force, serving from 1955 to 1959, and ob
taining the rank of staff sergeant. Following his service in the milit
ary, he worked for General Electric. In 1962, he began his employmen
t at Penn State University in the Meteorological Department, retirin
g in 1997 after 35 years of service. Jim was a member of St. John's Un
ited Church of Christ in Tylersville and treasurer for the Tylersvill
e Cemetery Association. He was also past president of the Tylersvill
e Community Cable Association. Jim was an avid hunter and enjoyed farm
ing. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-granddaug
hter, especially taking them for rides on his Gator. In addition to hi
s wife, he is survived by a son, Jeffrey P. Breon, of Loganton; a daug
hter, Lori S. (Jeff) Vanino, of Sinking Springs; five brothers, Richar
d, of Loganton, Terry, of Tylersville, Donald, of Cammal, Jack, of Ten
essee, and Barry, of McElhattan; a sister, Sherri Gardner, of McElhat
tan; five grandchildren, Jordan, Garth and Ryan Breon, and Derek and B
adley Vanino; and a great-granddaughter, Eve Breon. In addition to hi
s parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Jason Breon, an
d a sister, Shelby Rhinehart. A funeral service will be held on Tuesda
y, June 11, 2013, at 11 a.m., at St. John's United Church of Christ, R
oute 880, Tylersville, with the Rev. Roger Snyder officiating. Buria
l with military honors will follow at Tylersville Cemetery. Friends an
d family will be received Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Donal
d G. Walker Funeral Home Inc., 231 High St., Flemington. In lieu of fl
owers, memorial contributions may be made to the Tylersville Cemeter
