Barbara "Ruth" Heimer, 81, of 12 Linwood Drive, McElhattan, died May 1
, 2012 in Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
She was born on March 3, 1931 in Castanea, a daughter of the late Rich
ard H. and Viola E. Boone McCaleb.
She was married to Dean R. Heimer, who died on Feb. 13, 2006.
She was a member of the Clinton County Piece Makers Quilt Club and th
e McElhattan Fire Co.
A 1948 graduate of Lock Haven High School, she was co-owner of Heimer'
s Trailer Sales for 25 years and worked as a secretary for Keystone Ce
tral School District for 13 years.
She enjoyed camping, playing cards, traveling and fishing.
Surviving are a son, Scott L. (Joanne) Heimer of Avis; a daughter, Cyn
thia H. (Dave) Karichner of Dunnstown; a sister, Ethel Rockey of Centr
e Hall, seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death was a daughter, Nydean (Beth) Irvin, who died i
2002.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, May 4, 2012, at the Donald G. W
alker Funeral Home Inc., 231 High St., Flemington, with Pastor T.R. Ha
dic officiating. Burial will be in Jacksonville Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the SPCA, Ross Library or McElha
ttan United Methodist Church.
