Winifred M. “Tootsie” Barner, 99, of Jersey Shore passed away peaceful
ly on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at Susque-View Home.
She was born October 31, 1917 in Lock Haven. She was the daughter o
f the late Fredrick and Rose (Walizer) Fleisher. She was married to t
he love of her life, Harris C. Barner who passed away in 1979. They w
ere united in marriage on October 12, 1940.
Winifred was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her h
appiest times were spent with family and friends. Winifred enjoyed cr
ocheting, putting together jigsaw puzzles, watching Penn State footbal
l games and baking her famous banana nut cake. She was a lifelong mem
ber of St. John Lutheran Church.
Surviving is a daughter Cynthia A. Breon, of Jersey Shore; two grandch
ildren, Angela B. (Lance) Williams and Donald W. (Andrea) Breon II; th
ee great-granddaughters Rachel, Lilla and Eliza; a brother Gerald Fle
isher of Rauchtown; three sisters; Mary Pepperman and Betty Brown of J
ersey Shore, and Delores Derr of Williamsport.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Fredrick Fleisher Jr. and Jame
s Robert Fleisher. And sisters June Gardner, Vida Whipple and Vivian F
eerrar
She will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends.
Friends may call at the Fredrick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 North Mai
Street, Jersey Shore on Monday, September 11, 2017 from 10am to th
e time of the service at 11am. Her minister, The Rev. Dr. Kerry Aucke
, will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions b
e made in her name to St. John Lutheran Church.
The family would like to thank the staff of Susque-View Home for thei
many acts of kindness and the wonderful care she received during he
time spent at their facility.
