Emma M. Barner Gill
50-year church member worked for Mercer schools
Emma M. Barner Gill, 290 N. Perry Highway, Coolspring Twp, died at 7:1
5 p.m. Saturday (8-5-00) in United Community Hospital, Pine Twp, afte
an extended illness. She was 90.
Mrs. Gill was born July 31, 1910, in Mercer to Clyde and Mary Huey Bar
er.
She was employed for 23 years in the cafeteria of Mercer High School
, and previously worked for Brandy Springs Park pool, Mercer.
Mrs. Gill was a 50-year member of Bethany Presbyterian Church, Mercer.
She also belonged to Mercer Business and Professional Women and Merce
Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary and was a lifetime member of Lad
ies of the Moose, Mercer.
Her husband, Clifford B. Gill, whom she married March 19, 1931, died M
ay 15, 1970.
Surviving are: a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Dorothy Louise) Rudolph, Merce
; a sister, Evelyn Stull, Hubbard; two grandchildren; and two great-g
andchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Charle
s and Maurice Barner, and two sisters, Alma Barner Moose and Mary Eliz
abeth "Dolly" Wardman.
