Clair E. Barner, 66, died Monday at his residence.
Mr. Barner was born July 29, 1938 in Charleston, Pa., a son of Howar
d and Elizabeth Coleman Barner.
He retired in 2004 from the Hearn Paper Co. as a salesman after 10 yea
s. He had a karaoke business and volunteered his services to local or
ganizations. He was a graduate of Hickory High School, a member of th
e First United Methodist Church, was past president and member of th
e Girard Lions Club, the Army Navy Garrison Post No. 422, the DeWitt M
cConnell American Legion Post No. 213 and the Girard Eagles. Mr. Barne
was also an Army veteran.
He is survived by his wife, the former Barbara K. Wright, whom he marr
ied Aug. 2, 1958; daughters, Sharla K. (Mike) DeSimone and Melissa J
. (Jeffrey) Barnett, both of Girard; a sister, Betty Dummett of Mercer
, Pa.; brothers, Richard (Audrey) Barner of Palm Bay, Fla., Harry (Sal
ley) Barner of Mercer, Pa., Thomas (Betsy) Barner of Hermitage, Pa., a
d David (Kay) Barner of Denver; and grandchildren, Jaime Emery, Abb
y Emery, Tyler Emery and Mattie and Justin Barnett.
There will be funeral services at 11 a.m. Friday at the Blackstone Fun
eral Home, where there will be visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
Interment will be at Kerr Cemetery.
The family requests that memorial contributions be sent to Hospice o
f the Valley, the Church Memorial Fund or the Lions Club.
