Calvin 'Bump' Welshans November 1, 1925 -May 5, 2007 Calvin "Bump" Wel
shans, 81, of Loganton, died Saturday, May 7, 2007, at Lock Haven Hosp
ital. Born Nov. 1, 1925, he was a son of the late Ralph and Jennie Emi
g Welshans. On Sept. 9, 1944, he married June Weaver, who survives. H
e was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army. He wa
s a graduate of the former Sugar Valley High School. A machinist by tr
ade, he retired from the former Titan and Cerro Copper and Brass of Be
llefonte in 1986 after 38 years of service. "Bump" was a member of th
e Free and Accepted Masons Lafayette Lodge Number 199, the Lock Have
and Williamsport Consistory. He was also a member of the Veterans o
f Foreign Wars Post 1600 of Bellefonte and the Sugar Valley Lions Club
. He was an outdoorsman, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. In additio
to his wife, June, of 62 years, he is survived by a daughter, Nanc
y Gower and her husband, Richard, of Jersey Shore; two granddaughters
, Corinne Paulhamus and her husband, Martin, of Linden, and Kathy Mart
in and her husband, Randy, of Fleetwood; a great-granddaughter, Amand
a Paulhamus, of Linden; a great-grandson, Andrew Paulhamus, of Linden
; and a brother, Elwood "Nook" Welshans and his wife, Marilyn, of Gree
burr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son
, Richard P., who died in 1970; a grandson, Nicholas Snook; and two br
others, Lester and Hillaire "Pete" Welshans. Friends will be receive
d from 7 to 9 p.m. today, Monday, May 7, 2007, at Wayne P. Urbine Fune
al Home Inc., 95 E. Main St., Loganton and from noon to 1 p.m., Tuesd
ay, May 8, 2007, at the St. John Lutheran Church, Booneville. The fune
al will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, 2007, at the church, with t
he Rev. Nathan Rice officiating. Burial will be in the St. John Luther
an Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may b
e made to Sugar Valley Volunteer Fire Company Number 13, 24 W. Anthon
y St., Loganton, PA 17747.

Calvin Welshans
Calvin “Bump” Welshans, 81, husband of June (Weaver) Welshans, of 135
8 W. Valley Road, Loganton, passed away on Saturday, May 5, 2007, at L
ock Haven Hospital.
Born in Booneville on November 1, 1925, he was the son of the late Ral
ph and Jennie (Emig) Welshans.
He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the United States Army.
He was a graduate of the former Sugar Valley High School. A machinis
t by trade, he retired from the former Titan and Cerro Copper and Bras
s of Bellefonte in 1986 after 38 years of service.
Bump was a member of the Lafayette Lodge #199 F. and A.M., Lock Haven
, and the Williamsport Consistory. He was also a member of the VFW #16
00 of Bellefonte and the Sugar Valley Lions Club.
He was a member of the Sugar Valley Volunteer Fire Co. #13 and was a m
ember of the Fire Police for many years.
Bump was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years (September 9, 1944); a daughter
, Nancy Gower (Richard) of Jersey Shore; two granddaughters, Corinne P
aulhamus (Martin) of Linden and Kathy Martin (Randy) of Fleetwood; on
e great granddaughter, Amanda Paulhamus, and one great grandson, Andre
w Paulhamus, both of Linden; and a brother, Elwood “Nook” Welshans (Ma
ilyn) of Greenburr.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Ronald P. (
1970); a grandson, Nicholas Snook; and two brothers, Lester and Hillai
e “Pete” Welshans.
The funeral service will be held today at 1 p.m. in the St. John Luthe
an Church, Booneville, with Rev. Nathan Rice officiating. The viewin
g will be held in the church one hour prior to the service. Intermen
t will be held in the adjoining church cemetery. The family will provi
de the flowers. If desired, memorials may be sent to the Sugar Valle
y Volunteer Fire Co. #13, 24 W. Anthony St., Loganton, PA 17747.
