Doris Ann Haagen May 10, 1932 June 7, 2018 Doris Ann Haagen, 86, of Ho
ward, passed away on Thursday, June 7, 2018, at the Susqueview Nursin
g Home in Lock Haven. Born on May 10, 1932, in Howard Township, she wa
s the daughter of the late Benjamin F. and Nancy N. Watkins Confer. O
September 20, 1952, at the Church of Christ in Orvis- ton, she marri
ed Albert W. Haagen. Albert passed away on January 5, 2018. Doris wa
s a 1950 graduate of Lock Haven High School. She worked in the offic
e at American Airlines at Piper for many years. When Albert was statio
ed at Fort Totten, N.Y., she worked in Bay- side, Long Island in a dr
y cleaning establishment. Doris was a member of the Trinity Reformed C
hurch in Hublersburg, where she served as the organist for 23 years. A
fter retirement as organist, she became the church pianist. In the ear
ly 1950's, Doris played the piano for a radio choir. She taught pian
o lessons for several years. She was the Past President of the Women'
s Guild at her church. Doris served four years as treasurer of the Nor
thern Association of the Church of Christ. She was a member of the Dau
ghters of American Revolution and was a member of the Advisory Committ
ee for Dairy Cooperative at Syracuse, N.Y. for many years. Doris was o
the board of the Centre County Extension Committee Home Economics. S
he worked on the election board at Walker Township East as an Inspecto
and Judge of Elections for many years. Doris loved being with her fa
mily and family history. She did genealogy research and wrote a book o
both her mother's and father's side of the family. Doris is survive
d by three sons: Ben (Mary Ann), Alan (Crystal), and Steve (Sandy) Haa
gen, all of Howard; one daughter: Marjorie (Willis) Ardry, of Howard
; eight grandchildren: Chad Haagen and Emily Rickard, Rachel McCauley
, Jacob and Isaac Haagen, and Wayne, Mark and Tom Ardry; and nine grea
t-grandchildren. Along with her parents and husband, Doris was precede
d in death by one brother, Larry Confer and one sister, Rebecca Packer
. She was the last of her generation. Visitation will be on Tuesday, J
une 12, 2018, from 7-9 p.m. at the Kader-Neff Funeral Home, 135 Main S
treet, Howard. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, June 13, 2018, a
t 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Keith Koch officiating. B
urial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Memorial contributions can b
