Grace A. Persun, 89, of 79 Summer Mountain Road, a lifelong resident o
f Sugar Valley, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, De
c. 2, 2011, at her home.
She was born Dec. 6, 1921, in Tylersville, a daughter of the late Harr
y H. and Mae Frantz Miller. She was married to Gene W. Persun on Oct
. 19, 1963.
She graduated from the Sugar Valley School in 1939. Grace worked at Pe
qua Lure Co. and retired from Gettig Pharmaceutical Co.
Grace was a lifelong member of St. Johns United Church of Christ of Ty
lersville, where she served on church council, as well as numerous oth
er committees. She was a lifelong member of the Southern Clinton Count
y Sportsmen Club. Grace's greatest joy was spending time with her fami
ly and friends. An avid outdoors person, she enjoyed gardening, especi
ally growing flowers, hunting and fly fishing. She also enjoyed travel
ing, particularly their annual family Canadian fishing trip.
Grace is survived by her husband, Gene W. Persun of Tylersville; a son
, Randell (Vonnie) Mark of Lamar; granddaughters, Julie (Michael) Geye
and Jinell (Scott) Krout of Mill Hall; six great-grandchildren, Chel
sea, Michaela and Megan Geyer, and Jared, Jordan and Mya Krout; and nu
merous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Floyd E. Mark; three s
isters, Hilera Miller, Freeda Wertz and Genevieve Barner; and three br
others, Harry H. Miller, Allen F. Miller and Richard T. Miller.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6, in the Wayn
e P. Urbine Funeral Home, Inc., 95 E. Main St., Loganton and 10 to 1
1 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7, at the St. Johns United Church of Christ, Ty
lersville, followed by a celebration of Grace's life at 11 a.m. conduc
ted by Rev. Rodger L. Snyder. Burial will follow in the Union Cemetery
.
