Charlotte R. Styers
Charlotte R. Styers, 80, of 248 Walnut St., Mifflinburg since 1955, we
t home to be with her Lord and Savior at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, June 4
, 2009, at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg, where she had be
en a patient for two days.
She was born Nov. 30, 1928, in Buffalo Twp, a daughter of the late Joh
M. and Katie M. (Wolfe) Reamer. On June 27, 1947, in the Buffalo Val
ley Church of the Brethren, Mifflinburg, with Rev. Mervin Mensch perfo
ming the ceremony, she married William Calvin Styers, who survives.
Charlotte was a 1945 graduate of Mifflinburg High School.
Charlotte was employed as the head cashier at J.J. Newberry’s Departme
t Store, Lewisburg, for many years. Earlier in life, she worked at PH
ILCO, Watsontown, and the Milton Shoe Factory.
She was an active member of the Buffalo Valley Church of the Brethren
, Mifflinburg, where she served as a lifetime deacon, church clerk an
d member of the Women’s Fellowship. She coordinated food stands and me
als, and enjoyed making soup for the church love feast.
She enjoyed traveling with her husband, with whom she shared nearly 6
2 years of marriage. Together they successfully traveled to 48 states
. Charlotte was known for braiding her “first prize” rugs for family a
d friends.
In addition to her loving husband she is survived by one son and daugh
ter-in-law, Thomas E. and Roxanne M. Styers, of Mifflinburg; one daugh
ter and son-in-law, Wendy L. and Don L. King, of Federal Way, Wash.; f
our brothers and one sister-in-law, John N. and Carol Reamer, of Miffl
inburg, Lee Reamer, of Aaronsburg, Luther Reamer, of Millersburg, an
d Arthur Reamer; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Anna Schreck of M
ifflinburg, and Dorothy and George Richard, Sr., of Middleburg; five g
andchildren and their spouses, Tracy S. and Corey Solomon, Heather R
. Reid, and Kristy M. and Eric Heintzelman, all of Mifflinburg, Wade T
. and Kristina Styers of Bridgeport, and Jeff L. and Melissa Christian
, of San Antonio, Texas; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Elwood Reamer, and Franci
s “Fritz” Reamer.
Funeral services were held Tues., June 9, at the Buffalo Valley Churc
h of the Brethren, 46 Brethren Church Road., Mifflinburg. Rev. Randal
l C. Fiske officiated.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
