Obituary
Services for Rachel Stover Roup, 97, Athens, are scheduled for 11 a.m
. Monday at First United Methodist Church, Athens, with the Rev. Rebec
ca Love and Dr. Faulk Landrum officiating.
Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Park under direction of Carroll
-Lehr Funeral Home, Athens.
Rachel passed away peacefully July 3, 2013, at her home.
She was born April 19, 1916, in Union Co, Pa., to the late Irvin Wella
s and Elizabeth Barnes Stover and was the last of three children. Sh
e was employed with Chef Boy-Ar-Dee Corp. in Milton, Pa., Philco Corp.
, Ford Motor Co. and Zenith Corp. in Watsontown, Pa. Upon her retireme
t in 1978, Rachel moved to Athens. She joined First United Methodis
t Church and became active with United Methodist Women and chaired th
e Nurture Committee. She was a sunshine person in the Christian Worker
s Sunday school class.
Rachel was preceded in death by her first husband, Delbert Fisher Sr.
; son, Delbert Fisher Jr. and daughter-in-law, Caroline Fisher.
Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Franklin Roup, Athens; gran
dsons, Scott Fisher, New Milford, Pa., Brian Fisher, Fuquay Varina, N.
C., Rodney Fisher and wife Joann, Dureau, Pa.; stepdaughters, Diana Hi
le and husband Bob, Watsontown, Pa., and Judy Tinsley and husband Jame
s, Mount Pleasant Mills, Pa.; stepsons, Larry Roup and wife Jill, Miff
linburg, Pa., Gary Roup and wife Peggy, New Columbia, Pa.; several nie
ces and nephews; eight additional grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchi
ldren.
Pallbearers will be Ray Hicks, Gary Bass, Dewayne Hallmark, Ken Braswe
ll, Lloyd Holt and John Dandois.
Visitation for family and friends will be 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Carrol
l-Lehr Funeral Home.
