Remembering Brenda Barner: 'a strong, funny and beautiful woman'
Brenda Jaye Barner (Lindquist) retired in 2004 from AFSCME after 31 ye
ars of service in a job that her family said she loved.
Barner, 65, of Liverpool, died Oct. 7.
"To her family and friends, Brenda was a hero, a positive role model
, who fought her nine-year battle with willpower and strength of mind,
" read her obituary.
She was a 1967 graduate of Newport High School where she was a cheerle
ader and homecoming queen. She enjoyed riding horses on her family's f
arm. She enjoyed vacations at Black Lake, N.Y., with her family and fr
iends; making special treats and trinkets; crafting; reading; sewing q
uilts and Halloween costumes and playing games.
Surviving are her husband, Mark Terry Lindquist; a son, Christopher Fa
lcone and his wife, Colleen; granddaughters, Emma and Claire Falcone
; sisters and their spouses, Bonnie and Ken Hultzapple and Billie an
d Bruce Jones; nieces, Dori Bornstein, Kelly and Kevin Seiler, and Ama
da and Shannon Mummert; and nephews Andrew Leach and Alex and Sanna B
