Marion M. Bierly, 86, of Jersey Shore, passed away on Saturday, Marc
h 14, 2009, at the Jersey Shore Hospital. She was married on May 27, 1
950 to the late Benjamin M. Bierly with whom she shared 54 years of ma
iage.
She was born on Jan. 15, 1923 in Jersey Shore, a daughter of the lat
e Melvin and Anna Fisher Larrison.
Marion graduated from Jersey Shore High School. She was the chief oper
ator for Bell Telephone at the Jersey Shore branch and for the New Yor
k Central Railroad. She also worked for Russell's Flower Shop for a nu
mber of years as a floral designer.
Marion was a devoted wife, loving mother and the best grandmother anyo
e could imagine. Her family was her life. She had a model marriage an
d a loving relationship with her husband Ben. The couple truly enjoye
d their more than 50 years together. Whether itwas an evening of dinne
and dancing with Ben or a weekend with her grandchildren, Marion che
ished the time she spent with her family.
Marion and Ben attended Grace Lutheran Church in Jersey Shore and ha
d many friendships within the local community. Always prepared and eag
er to lend a helping hand, Marion had a genuine passion for kindness a
d compassion for others. Her unique brand of wit, sense of humor an
d loving personality will always hold a special place in her family'
s hearts.
She had a smile that could light up a room and kindness that will sust
ain her family forever. Marion will be missed greatly by her family, f
iends and neighbors.
Marion is survived by a son, Michael D. Bierly of Hanover; a daughter
, Rebecca J. (Rich) Buttorff of Jersey Shore; two sisters, Mildred Bau
mgartner of Bath, N.Y. and Edith Gray of Lewisburg; grandchildren, Sum
er (Justin), Misti (Matt) Tyson, Ashley and Talor, and a great grandso
, Brodie.
She was preceded in death by her husband and a daughter, April Louis
e Bierly.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Marion's Life Celebratio
on Tuesday, March 17, 2009, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Grace Lu
theran Church, 200 Maple St., Jersey Shore. Funeral services will foll
ow at 11:30 a.m. with the Rev. Ralph L. Heagy officiating. Interment w
ill follow at Jersey Shore Cemetery.
