David D. Sestili, 33, of Foster City, Calif., an engineering and manuf
acturing supervisor, died July 27 at home following a yearlong battl
e with colon cancer.
Mr. Sestili was born in the Chestnut Hill section of Philadelphia.
He attended St. Robert Grade School and St. James High School in Chest
er. He was a graduate of Christiana High School in Delaware. He then w
ent on to graduate from The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Poin
t, N.Y., in 1997.
His first job out of college, working for Global SanteFe on oil rigs f
or five years, took him from Asia to Africa. He was working for Northr
up Grumman in Sunnyvale, Calif., when he became ill.
Wherever his life and career took him, he always remained a passionat
e and loyal Philadelphia sports fan. It was not unusual to find him ye
lling at a referee through the television at any given moment.
He also loved golf and often tried to emulate his grandfather’s skills
.

h, Chester.
