Louise was the daughter of Charles Meyers (Pappa) and Julia Etta (Meye
s) Barner, born in Belle Plaine, KS, at the Barner family home. She e
joyed completing high school in Atchison, KS, while living with her s
ister Mary and husband Thomas B. Portwood, school principal. Louise co
tinued her education at Emporia State Teacher's College, securing a j
ob teaching grammar school in Norton, KS.
She was married to Joe Casey by the Catholic Bishop in Concordia, KS i
1931. The family moved to Omaha, where they founded The J.D. Casey C
ompany in 1947. Louise retired at the age of 95 from the family busine
ss to assist her daughter, Carolyn and son Joe, establish a Home Inste
ad Senior Care Franchise in New Braunfels, TX.
