MIDDLEBURG - Joseph Francis Light, 86, Middleburg RD3, Washington Twp,
died this morning in the Evangelical Community Hospital, where he wa
s a patient
for the past five days.
Born Feb. 23, 1899, in Oriental, Liverpool RD1, he was a son of the la
te
William H. and Alice C. Barner Light. He married Helen Devline, who d
ied in
1937. In 1947, he married Mae Cejrner.
He was a licensed practical nurse at Pennhurst State School. Later se
ttling
in the New England states, he was employed at Middletown, Conn., Stat
e Hospital.
Later, he was employed as a supervisor at Fairfield State Hospital. H
e retired
in 1956 as supervisor at Middletown, Conn., State Hospital.
He was of the Lutheran faith.
He was a member and past president of Fraternal Order of Eagles, Middl
etown,
Conn.; a member and past president of Hospital A.F.L.; a member and pa
st
governor of Loyal Order of Moose, Middletown, Conn.; he was a member o
f F&AM
Lodge 18, Sandy Hook, Conn., Woodmen of the World 171, Sunbury, Masoni
c Veterans
Organization, and Council A.F.L., Hartford, Conn.; and a life member o
f Chapter
1 Consistory, Sandy Hook, Conn.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Ida L. Or
tman of
Mishawaka, Ind., and Mrs. Dora Heckman of South Bend, Ind.; and a brot
her, W.
Stanley of Liverpool RD1.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in the George P. Garma
Funeral
Home, Mount Pleasant Mills, by the Rev. Carl Graybill. Burial will b
e in
Barners Church Cemetery, Liverpool RD1.
Friends may call in the funeral home Saturday evening, where Masonic s
ervices
will be conducted at 8:30 p.m. by the Middleburg Masonic Lodge.

LIVERPOOL - W. Stanley Light, 80, Liverpool RD1, died Thursday morning

1991, at his home.
Born in Oriental, March 11, 1911, he was the son of the late William H
enry and
Alice (Barner) Light. In 1930 he married the former Margaret Merle Mu
ay.
They were married 60 years.
Mr. Light was educated at Prosperity School, Oriental. He was employe
d at
Phoenix Iron and Steel Harrisburg plant until it closed in 1969 and wa
s a self-
employed farmer.
He was of the Lutheran faith. He was a member of Moose Lodge No. 925,
Millerstown, and served as past governor of the lodge; and a member o
f Masonic
Lodge No. 381, Newport; Scottish Rite Consistory, Harrisburg; and Live
pool
Ambulance League.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Pauline Wrigh
t of
Granger, Ind.; two foster sons, Robert Sarvis, at home, and Robert Yei
gst of
Sunbury; his twin sister, Dora M. Heckman of South Bend, Ind., and a s
ister, Ida
L. Ortmann of Mishawaka, Ind.; six grandchildren; and five great-grand
children.
He was a father to 67 foster children since 1959.
He was preceded in death by a son, Francis Light, who died in 1957
; a great-
granddaughter; two brothers, Herman Light and Francis Light; and two s
isters,
Mabel Fredericks and Blanche Parthemore.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at the George P. Garma
Funeral
Home, 606 N. Front St., Liverpool, by the Rev. Ira L. Lingenfelter. B

Gene Heckman

A funeral for Gene Heckman, 68, of Canyon Creek, Mont., will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Retz Funeral Home, Helena, Mont. The Rev. Jim Fiedler will officiate. Burial will be in Barners Cemetery, Liverpool, Perry Co, PA.

Mr. Heckman died Feb. 12, 2002, after a short illness.

Born Feb. 18, 1933, he resided in Canyon Creek. He was retired from the Air Force Special Forces. He was very active with the Brotherhood of Vietnam Veterans. He was a former resident of Vacaville.

Mr. Heckman is survived by his wife, Kathy Ann of Canyon Creek; sons, Robert of Alameda and Eric; daughter, Kimberly.

A visitation will be held from noon to 8 p.m., Friday in The Retz Mortuary in Montana.

Arrangements were handled by Vaca Hills Chapel.
