KANE - Marjorie "Marge" Zampogna, 90, of 314 Kearney St., passed awa
y Thursday (Oct. 3, 2013) at her residence.
Born Feb. 2, 1923 (Ground Hog Day), in Johnsonburg, she was the daught
er of the late John Edward Bressler and Sarah Elizabeth Barner. On Apr
il 12, 1945, she married Fritz Zampogna, who passed away in 2012.
She was a loving wife and mother. She aspired to be a nurse at a youn
g age, but did not become one as she had a slight heart murmur that pr
evented her enrollment at that time. As a lefty, she was made to writ
e with her right hand in grade school. She was a homemaker and bookkee
per for her self-employed carpenter husband. She loved being around he
family and friends. She kept up with current events in the news up t
o her last days. Earlier in life she had also been employed at Stackpo
le in Johnsonburg and Temple Pharmacy in Kane.
She was also a member of St. Callistus Catholic Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Barbara J. McDermott and Debra A. (Barr
y "Mac") McQuillen of Kane; a son, James L. (Maryclaire) Zampogna of F
ulton, N.Y.; six grandchildren, James, Patrick, Joshua, Edward, Rene
e and Jill; seven great-grandchildren, Katelynn, Madeline, Dominic, Ge
ena, Trevor, Olivia and Maddison: closest nephews and nieces, David (C
athy) Buckland, Patricia Lawrence (Gene) and Harry (Sharon) Bressler.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Edward Bressler; and three s
isters, Maxine Buckland, Helen Holmes and Judy Bressler.
Friends will be received in the gathering space at St. Callistus Catho
lic Church on Monday from 10 to 11 a.m., where a Mass of Christian Bur
ial will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Philip Pinczewski as celebran
t. Burial will be at St. Callistus Cemetery.
