    Richard “Dick” Tyson

    Richard “Dick” Tyson, 89, died April 4, 2007 at Indian River Medical C
    enter in Vero Beach, Fla. Goodness and mercy have followed him all th
    e days of his life and he will now dwell in the house of the Lord fore
    ver.

    He was born in Lock Haven on April 21, 1917 and moved to Vero Beach la
    st year after enjoying 23 years of retirement in Wellington, Fla.

    He will be remembered for his love and devotion to his adoring family
    , his wonderful sense of humor, his ability to fix anything, and his f
    aithful support of Penn State and Army football and basketball.

    He retired in 1983 after 35 years as a manager for Amerigas in Elizabe
    thtown, Ky. and Franklin, Tenn. He was a member of the Disabled Americ
    an Veterans.

    A distinguished World War II Army veteran and a member of the heralde
    d Fifth Armored Division, “The Victory Division”, he commaned a Sherma
    Tank through the valleys, hedgerows and “forests of death”. He feare
    d no evil.

    He was awarded the Silver Star for Valor during action at the Battle o
    f the Bulge in Hurtgen Forest, and the Bronze Star for Heroism for act
    ion in a forced reconnaissance as some of the first U.S. troops to cro
    ss the Rhine River into Germany. He earned five battle stars and the P
    urple Heart twice.

    He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Margaret Tyson, of Vero Beach
    , Fla., his son, Richard F. (Gail) Tyson, of Roswell, Ga., and his dau
    ghter, Carole A. (Cmdr. James) Denmark, of Vero Beach, and one grandso
    , David Tyson Denmark, of Vero Beach.

    The Tyson family would like to express their deep gratitude to all th
    e members of the VNA, Hospice and the Indian River Medical Center fo
    their exceptional thoughtfulness, professional care and loving conce
    . To each of you, words cannot adequately express how much we apprec
    iate your kind actions during the past six weeks.

    Memorial contributions can be made to the VNA Hospice of Indian Rive
    Co, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960 in memory of Mr. Tyson.

    A small Celebration of Life will be held at Strunk Funeral Home in Ver
    o Beach at 11 a.m., Friday, April 6, 2007 with Rev. John McDivitt, Fir
    st Church of God, Vero Beach, Fla. officiating.

    Arrangements are under the direction of Strunk Funeral Home, Vero Beac

    M. June Bower, 86, of 201 S. Broad St., No. 2, Jersey Shore, Pa., wen
    t to be home with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 31, 2011.

    Born on June 1, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Pear
    l (Baney) Tyson.

    She was a 1942 graduate of Lock Haven High School and attended the for
    mer School of Commerce in Williamsport.

    June began her working career as a secretary for GTE Sylvania in Mil
    l Hall. Then as the assistant manager for the Federal Housing Authorit
    y, she oversaw the daily operation of housing units in Lock Haven fo
    women who came to Lock Haven to work at Piper and GTE Sylvania durin
    g World War II.

    After the war she moved to Jersey Shore where she continued her secret
    arial skills at Ugite Gas Co., C.H. Young Mfg., Jersey Shore Shirt Fac
    tory and with attorney L. Waldo Herritt. She also was formerly employe
    d by Lowry Electric Co., and the Lycoming County Courthouse in the Reg
    ister and Recorder's Office and by STEP as a typist and secretary in t
    he Bi County Office of Aging.

    June was a member of Crossroads Community Church and was active with t
    he Senior's Group and also enjoyed reading and cooking.

    She is survived by a daughter, Cinde Bower Stout (Dore) of South Willi
    amsport; two sons, Paul Bower (Dianne) of Avis and Craig Bower (Denise
    ) of Jersey Shore; a sister, Betty Quilty of Ocala, Fla.; five grandch
    ildren; and five great-grandchildren.

    A service of celebration will be held on Monday, April 4, 2011, at 1
    1 a.m. in the Wayne P. Urbine Funeral Home, Inc., 408 S. Main St., Jer
    sey Shore, with Pastor John Phillips officiating. A visitation will b
    e held in the funeral home on Sunday, April 3, 2011, from 7 to 9 p.m
    . and on Monday one hour prior to the service. Parking is located in t
    he rear of the funeral home. Private interment will be held in Jerse
    y Shore Cemetery. Please omit flowers; if desired, memorials may be se
    t in June's name to Crossroads Community Church, 230 Allegheny St., J
    ersey Shore, PA 17740.

    Craig A. "Stretch" Bower, 52, of 116 Wylie St., Jersey Shore, went t
    o be with his Lord and Savior Thursday morning, March 14, 2013 at hi
    s home, with his loving family by his side, after a brief and intens
    e illness. Born May 21, 1960 in Jersey Shore, he was the son of Paul E
    . "Peanut" Bower Sr. and the former M. June Tyson.

    Craig is survived by his wife, the former Denise "Dennie" C. Chambers
    . For many years he was the owner of Crystal Beverage in Jersey Shore.

    He was a 1978 graduate of the Jersey Shore High School and was a lifet
    ime member of the First United Methodist Church in Jersey Shore.

    Craig had a passion for hunting, the outdoors, and World War II histor
    y. He was a life member of the Jersey Shore Elks No. 1057, Jersey Shor
    e Moose Family Center No. 214, Jersey Shore American Legion and the Je
    sey Shore V.F.W. Billy O. Brandt Post No. 5859. Also surviving is hi
    s loving daughter Vanessa A. Bower of Boston, Mass.; a brother Paul E
    . (Dianne) Bower Jr. of Avis; a sister Cinde L. (Dore) Bower- Stout o
    f Oval; nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, his many wonderf
    ul loving friends and his loyal canine companions, "Tsar" and "Gracie.

    Funeral services will be Monday, March 18, 2013, at 6 p.m. in the Firs
    t United Methodist Church, 236 S. Main St., Jersey Shore. Certified La
    y Minister Becky Cuddeback his pastor will officiate. Friends may cal
    l from 3 p.m. Monday until time of services in the church. Burial wil
    l be in the Jersey Shore Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

    The family suggests memorial contributions be made in his name to th
    e First United Methodist Church in Jersey Shore or to the Susquehann
    a Home Care & Hospice, 1100 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport Pa. 17701.
